Jovian M Friederichs
Chilton, WI

Jovian Marcella Friederichs, 93, of Chilton, died on October 4, 2018, at Libby’s House in Chilton. She was born August 9, 1925, in St. Anne, WI, daughter of William and Viola Reiser. She married Lawrence “Schimmel” Friederichs on June 11, 1946, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, and together they would have five children.

Throughout her life, Jovie's most important job was being a wife and mother. Her love extended beyond her children to her grandchildren. She enjoyed making every season and holiday special for her family.  She assisted her husband, who loving called her "Jo", in establishing his business which supported the local real estate market.  They enjoyed an active social life including a weekly Friday night fish fry with friends at local supper clubs.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton where she had been a member of Christian Mothers. She was an avid golfer and was a member of Hickory Hills Women’s Golf League for over 50 years.  She also bowled in women's league at Pla-Mor Lanes.

Jovie was very artistic. She spent many hours mastering the art of tole painting and participated in many local craft fairs.

She took pride in decorating her house with sought-after antiques and period pieces. Jovie was very good with a needle. She enjoyed decorative stitchery and creating stained glass pieces that were displayed in her home.

Jovian is survived by her children: Linda (Thomas) Scafati, Terry (Linda) Friederichs, Jan Friederichs, and Gary (Deborah) Friederichs; her grandchildren: Jovian Scafati, Brooke Friederichs, Kelly Curran, Maxwell Friederichs, Riley Friederichs, and Sam Friederichs; a great-grandchild: Achilles Scafati-Bradford; and a sister: Doris (Gordon) Wacynski.

Jovian was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; an infant son, Thomas; her parents, William and Viola Reiser and a brother, Cleo Reiser and his wife Armella.

Funeral services are set for 11:00am on Saturday, October 13, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 4:30pm until 7:30pm on Friday, October 12, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and again from 9:30am until 10:30am at the funeral home on Saturday, October 13. A vigil service will take place following Friday’s visitation. Jovian will be laid to rest at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 13, at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton.

The Friederichs family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Libby’s House of Chilton and Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
