Kathleen A. “Kathy” Broeckel-Drews, age 59, of Chilton died on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at her home in Chilton. She was born July 23, 1963 in Chilton, daughter of the late LeRoy & Dorothy (Pitzen) Broeckel. She married Mark A. Drews on May 15, 2023 in Chilton.
Kathy was a 1981 graduate of Chilton High School and began working at Foley Company where she remained until it’s closure in 2001. The very next day, she began working at Kaytee in Chilton until she was unable to do so.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and made sure to attend every Mass she was able to. She was also an active member of the Chilton Eagle’s Club Auxiliary and enjoyed helping there in whatever capacity she could.
In her free time, Kathy enjoyed the quietude of puzzles and crossword puzzles. She also tended to her flowers around the yard, vegetables in the garden, and looked forward to trips to the casino and attending concerts. Kathy was an avid Brewer and Packer fan and loved the memories and stories created while attending games live. Kathy loved to be around people and anyone who knew her understood that she was quite the social butterfly. She especially loved Friday nights when she would go visit friends and regulars at VanAbel’s in Hollandtown.
Above all else, she will be fondly remembered as an excellent mother who cared passionately about them and appreciated sitting around a table with them as everyone enjoyed her delicious cooking and baking. She especially cherished her grandson and often mentioned how she couldn’t possibly live without him and his generous love.
Survivors include her husband: Mark; her children: Amy Broeckel and her fiancé Doug Peterson, Adam Bowe, Aaron (Adam Zahradka) Bowe, Andrew Bowe and his fiancée Leah Kranz; Mark’s children: John Drews, Katherine Drews; a grandchild: Logan Peterson; her siblings: Sandy (Erick) Matznick, Kenny (Sue) Broeckel, Mike Broeckel, Dan Broeckel, Bob (Sharon) Broeckel; and her siblings-in-law: Brian (Wanda) Drews, Cindy Eckhardt, Doug (Lisa) Drews. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents: LeRoy & Dorothy Broeckel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorsen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Charlesburg. A time of visitation will be from 8:00 am until 11:45 am at the church on Saturday, June 3, 2023. The family requests those attending to please wear pink in consideration of breast cancer. Kathy’s family would like to thank the Calumet County Homecare and Hospice agency, and the Ascension Oncology staff, especially Adam, Katie, Amie, Janna and Courtney. Your care and compassion to Kathy as well as her family was greatly appreciated.

My spouse and I are camp hosts this summer and we're on duty this weekend so we were unable to attend the funeral to pay our respects. Kathy has been friends with my mom n dad for a long time I knew her well what a super kind person it's a tragedy ???? to have this happen to someone so wonderful...my sincere condolences go out to her entire family especially my friend and her brother Dan...I'm so sorry for your loss I'm heartbroken for you all please know my prayers will be with you through this sad time????
