Kathryn A. "Kathy" Loose

Kathryn A. Loose, age 67, of Hilbert, died on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born October 29, 1956, daughter of the late Robert & Armella (Thiel) Schwabenlander.
She graduated from St. John Catholic School in St. John where she was one of 9 students in her class. She later attended and graduated from Hilbert High School and was proud to have been part of the last class to graduate from the old high school. After attending some college, Kathy began her career in the medical field as a phlebotomist and working in the lab. After working for Dr. Hannan and Dr. Nelson, she became a registered coder for ThedaCare Medical System.
Kathy married the love of her life, Merlin Loose, on April 24, 1976 at St. John Catholic Church in St. John. Merlin found himself blessed beyond measure to have such a wonderful woman be a huge part of his life for 48 years.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert and had served as a 4-H Leader for the Hilbert 4-H Club. She loved fall, especially with the leaves turning colors and collecting them for the garden she had just cleared out, to canning her harvest. Kathy loved time spent outdoors, from teaching Merlin ice fishing, to hunting and fishing trips, camping and gardening. Although she would say it was more for Merlin, Kathy enjoyed time spent with her husband camping for the past 13 years where she could share laughs with friends and family.
When she wasn’t outside, Kathy cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She went out of her way to attend all of their events and set aside time to make cookies with them throughout the year. As any good grandmother would, she did everything in her power to spoil them at every turn. Kathy will fondly be remembered as the best of her family who continually kept family activities forefront in everyone’s mind.
Survivors include her husband: Merlin; her children: Joseph (Kari) Loose, Christa (John) Joling; her grandchildren: Landen & Austin Loose, Ethan Joling; her siblings: Jeff (Gloria) Schwabenlander, Patricia (Steve Wolf) Loose, Mike (Sue) Schwabenlander, Ann (Dan) Gehl; her siblings-in-law: Lillian (Ken) Pipping, LeRoy Loose, Mike (Anita) Loose, Catherine Mitchem, Kay Loose, Karen Loose, Sylvia Loose; and her beloved 4-legged companion: Dixie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law: Robert Loose, Leon Loose; and a sister-in-law: Lana Loose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. A vigil service will be held Monday evening at the funeral home at the close of the service. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
