Kristy A Schmidt

Reedsville WI

Kristy A. Schmidt, age 55, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on March 18, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She was born August 11, 1970, daughter of Howard and Sue Stelzer. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael Schmidt in 1988, and together they had two sons, Kyle and Kelley.

Kristy began her career in the medical field and moved into a position as a Director of Safety. She later went into sales, but returned to her passion of caring for people, most recently working at Gulfstream as an Environmental Health and Safety Process Manager.

Her strong faith guided the way she lived and cared for her family. She was selfless, always putting others first, and would meet everyone with grace.  Kristy was a mentor and role model to the younger women in her family and life, sharing her wisdom, encouragement, and support with a motherly heart. She showed them how to build a loving family while also pursuing a meaningful career. Kristy cherished her grandchildren just as deeply as her own children, and she played a profoundly meaningful and lasting role in shaping their lives.

Kristy loved making special memories with family and friends. She enjoyed hosting holidays and cooking for others, especially at Christmas, bringing everyone together around the table. She also loved art projects and craft days, including Pasty Day with her mom and sister. Kristy enjoyed planning vacations and trips for herself and Mike, as well as with her children and grandchildren - whether it was going to waterparks, canoeing, or simply spending time together.

Kristy is survived by her husband, Michael; her parents: Howard and Sue (Stelzer); father-in-law: Ed Lorenz; sons: Kyle (Ashley) Schmidt and Kelley (Mallary) Schmidt; grandchildren: Kolbe, Marlaina, Magdalynn, Malachi, Adali, Aydin; Kolbe's mother: Anna Mendoza; siblings: Susie (Brian) Lesperance, Howie (Jane) Stelzer; nephew: Zachery Stelzer; Mike's siblings, nieces and nephews; and other extended family

She was preceded in death by: mother-in-law: Kathryn Lorenz; father-in-law: Gordon Schmidt; grandparents: Eunice and Donald Cox, Larry and Verna Stelzer; and cousins:Jennifer and Trent.

A Celebration of Kristy’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Meat’s Opera Haus (204 S. 4th Ave.) in St. Nazianz. Friends can call from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with an informal service to follow.

In honor of Kristy, Mike will be planting a field of wildflowers. Guests are invited to bring a packet of their favorite flower seeds to help create this lasting and beautiful tribute.

Mike, Kyle, Kelley, and family... our sincerest condolences. In John 11 "Jesus Wept." .. God Himself cried over death, even knowing in moments he would raise his friend,Lazarus, from the dead. He wept because this wasn't what God wanted for us. Due to our free will and disobedience we now live in a broken world and that is the painful reality. We praise God Kristy accepted Christ's sacrifice on the cross and "Goodbye" is truly "See you later." Kristy gave such a wonderful example of a purposeful life, steadfast and faithful- slow to anger, without judgement, with a gentle heart. She was truly beautiful inside and out. While she left an irreplaceable void, we eagerly await to see her again.

To the Schmidt and Stelzer families, I can’t begin to imagine the depth of your loss, but I continue to pray for your peace during this time of grief. During my many trips to Appleton for work, I always enjoyed working with Kristy, a constant safety professional with a great attitude and warm smile. I was blessed along with our Arizona safety team to have lunch with her last year while she was there. Although Kristy is greatly missed, she will always be remembered.

Mike & family - I’m so sorry for your loss. She was truly a remarkable woman—kind, compassionate, and deeply caring. I had the privilege of working with her, and she made a lasting impact on my life, both professionally and personally. Her warmth was something special—genuine, comforting, and felt by everyone around her. It had a way of lifting people up and making even the hardest days easier. That kind of presence doesn’t fade; it stays with those she touched and continues to make a difference long after she’s gone. She will never be forgotten. Thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

I can’t tell you how special you were to me, Kristy. I met you at a time when you were going through such horrible things, yet your love, peace, and FAITH, were always at the forefront. I had just gotten out of a very abusive marriage, and while I so wanted to comfort you, YOU comforted ME. NOT FAIR! *wink* I will forever be grateful to have not only known you, but to have been your friend. You were and will always be a blessing from God - to me and your family and friends. Mike, I was and will continue to be inspired by the love I saw between you and Kristy. It was TANGIBLE! I can’t imagine how difficult this will be for you and your family, but you WILL get through it. God’s love and the incredible memories of your beautiful Kristy will carry you. I’m sending so much love form down here in Scottsdale.
