Larry J. Schisel, age 79, of Chilton, died on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born February 14, 1947 in Green Bay, son of the late Elmer & Margaret (Behm) Schisel. In August of 1964 he met Pat at a park dance in Menasha. Two years later, on August 27, 1966, Larry married Patricia McGlin at Bethel Lutheran Church in Menasha and they would have been celebrating 60 years of marriage this year.
Shortly after the couple was married, Larry served in the United States Army Reserve, 395th ORD Co. from 1967-73. During his working career, in his youth, he worked for farmers milking cows and picking rocks in the fields. At age 18, a machinist at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for 42 years and retired at the time of the plants closing.
After retirement, he and Pat made many trips to Virginia to see family and sight- see Washington DC. He became the Groundskeeper for St. Martin Lutheran Church for a few years and as a volunteer to changing the church sign and counting money.
Larry truly loved to remain active and busy; never letting the grass grow beneath his feet ... literally. He loved mowing his grass, and the neighbor lady's. He was a farm boy at heart, loved tilling his garden, growing vegetables and canning, and grilling out. He was always doing things for family and friends. When he did sit down it was early in morning with a cup of coffee watching the sun rise, or enjoying a Green Bay Packer game, watching a Milwaukee Brewer game or taking in a NASCAR race.
Survivors include his wife Pat; his daughters: Jill Schisel, Julie Mackey, Jackie Schisel; and a granddaughter Lara Mackey; his siblings: Ken (Jackie) Schisel, Verna Propson, Jim Schisel, Ray (Sue) Schisel, Elmer (Judy) Schisel, Jr.; his siblings-in-law: Kathy (Gene) Laux, Mike (Marla) McGlin; and his godchildren: Kim Stebane & Jamie Schisel. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law: Joseph & Hazel McGlin; a son-in-law: Jim Mackey; his siblings: Ron, Jerry, Tom, Patsy, Mary Jane, Shirley, Elayne, Janice; and his siblings-in-law: Dick (Dona) Frakes, Joyce (Roger) Cummings, & Denny McGlin.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 29, 2026 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Drive) in Chilton, with Rev. Thomas Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Chilton. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm on Monday, June 29, 2026. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
Larry's family would like to thank everyone with Calumet County Home Care, especially Nurse Melissa and his special neighbors for all of the love and care that was shown to both Larry and his family.
LOVE THE PEOPLE GOD GAVE YOU BECAUSE HE WILL NEED THEM BACK ONE DAY.

Pat, I’m very sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. I so enjoyed having Larry and you as neighbors when you lived on Madison St. We would meet in the backyard while mowing lawn to visit. I always enjoyed running into you and Larry to chat. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Godspeed Larry.
