Lois Jean Strick, age 89 found her peace with our Lord on January 28, 2021 while a resident at Gardens of Fountain Way in Menasha. Lois was born to Milton and Leta (Miley) Bastian on September 26, 1931 in Greenleaf, Wisconsin. On June 11, 1949 Lois married Earl “Nip” Strick at St John Catholic Church in Little Chute; he preceded her in death on April 5, 2017. Together they shared a strong Catholic faith throughout their lives.
Lois loved music; singing and playing the saxophone at Wrightstown High School, where she earned her high school degree. Lois’s passion for music and song continued throughout her life. She was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church choir and played piano at area nursing homes. Along with raising her family, Lois worked for Holy Name of Jesus School and the Kimberly Credit Union. Lois built a successful income tax service as she eased into retirement.
Lois and Earl inherited Green Bay Packer tickets from her father. Together they attended home games, until it was too cold for her, at which time Earl continued attending the games with friends and family while she cheered them on from the warmth of her home. Lois and Earl enjoyed dancing, bowling, being snow birds in Las Vegas, and enjoying family time at their cottage on Shawano Lake. They were always up for good card game of cribbage. Together they enjoyed going to rummage sales and rescuing and restoring furniture to new life. Lois always looked forward to watching and cheering on her grandchildren at a variety of school activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and had a passion for making quilts. Friday nights were always spent grocery shopping with one of her best friends, Sally.
Lois will be missed by her children: Carol (Bruce) Court, Daniel (Carole) Strick, Sue (Bill) Van Hoorn; her grandchildren: Patricia (Doyle) Rice, Nicholas (Heather Buckholt) Court, John (Teri) Runions, Susan Runions, William (Kelsey) Van Hoorn, Molly (Richard) Gaffney; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Lois is further survived by her brother Robert (Roseanne) Bastian, and her sister Betty (Donald) Vandenack; a sister-in-law: Arsella Strick; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Leta Bastian, her sister Carol Bastian and her great grandson Tyler Court.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (600 E. Kimberly Ave.) in Kimberly. Lois’s family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of The Gardens of Fountain Way and Heartland Hospice. The care she received was amazing. We will treasure the precious stories her caregivers shared with us.
My heartfelt sympathy to the family. Keep tight the memories. May you feel God's arms wrapped around you.
