Lon O Schroeder
Chilton WI
Lon O. Schroeder, age 78, of Chilton, died on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Century Ridge Assisted Living in Chilton. He was born May 15, 1946 in Appleton, son of the late Jerome & Caroline Schroeder.
Immediately after graduating high school, Lon began working with his father on the family homestead. It was during this time, he married the love of his life, Barbara Grenzer. In 1982, Lon began servicing Harvestor Silos, and together with his son, Dean, they created a new business out of these efforts. His entire working career was on this focus until his retirement.
In retirement, Lon picked up new hobbies and interests so he could keep his hands occupied. He meticulously tended to his yard and the landscaping around his home as well as his garden. Lon would spend countless hours on projects to improve the beauty of his yard. He would often be found joining friends for breakfast where the could discuss and solve all of the world’s problems, and he never passed up a good game of Sheepshead with friends or family. It was being in the presence with those he loved that brought him the most joy throughout life.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara; his children: Keith (Sue) Schroeder, Dean (Maria) Schroeder; 5 grandchildren: Bernie Schroeder, Myles (Brooke) Schroeder, Britt (Rebecca) Schroeder, Heather Schroeder, Brooke Schroeder; 3 great grandchildren: Logan Schroeder, Evan Schroeder, Annalise Quinzer; a brother: Daryl (Priscilla) Schroeder; sisters-in-law: Marlene Grenzer, Joan (Mike) Slominski; a brother-in-law: Kurt Myers; and an aunt: Helen Buboltz. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Kevin; siblings-in-law: Ken (Betty) Grenzer, Carol (Bob) Suttner, Mary (Joe) Schomisch, Charles Grenzer & Marguerite Myers.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with Rev. Thomas Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in the St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Chilton. A time of visitation will be held at St. Martin Lutheran Church from 11:00 am until 2:45 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024. Barb and family, I am so sorry to hear about Lon. I always enjoy his visits. He was insightful when it came to landscaping, investing and church matters. I will miss seeing him drive by. I always knew what time of morning it was when I'd see Lon head to town for breakfast. I also admired your beautiful yard as I would go biking. You have lots of neighbor friend's welcoming you in heaven.

I remember in 2004 when my wife and I started our dream of owning and operating a Propane business. Lon was one of our first callers and a great customer. He wanted the "little family owned and operated business" to strive and compete. Lon, we will always be greatful for the opportunity and you will be missed by many!!!

Had Lon join our Wednesday morning sheepshead group a few months ago and enjoyed his company. Never believed our enjoyable times playing cards would be so short. He was a very pleasant person. Gary
