Lucinda I Loose

Chilton WI

Four months short of turning 100 years old, Lucinda Irene (Reinke) Loose went to heaven on the morning of Sunday, March 2nd at Century Ridge, Chilton.

Lucinda was born on July 2,1925 in the Town of Rockland to Bernard and Bertha (Krepline) Reinke. She grew up on a dairy farm, one of 10 children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Collins.

She married Wilmer Loose on April 19, 1944 at  St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. Besides being a mother to six children, Lucinda worked various jobs including at the Harry Laack Cheese Factory, the Foley Company for 27 years, and Vercauteran Publishing for 13 years where she was named Chilton’s Citizen of the Year. She also spent time doing yardwork for others with Wilmer into her 70’s.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Martin Lutheran Church, Chilton where she served on the Altar Guild, and volunteered there as well as Shepherd’s Attic.

Lucinda enjoyed playing cards, celebrating Christmas and her annual birthday bash, cooking for her family, especially shiskies, listening to polka music, playing volleyball and baseball with her kids and grandkids, and attending countless grandchildren’s birthday parties, concerts, sporting events and more. She loved taking time to make crib blankets for all of her beloved grandchildren.  A family celebration was not complete without Grandma’s Meringue Cookies and Rosettes. She was a loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She always had a good attitude and was never one to complain. Her love, positivity and outlook on life will be missed.

Survivors include her children: Beverly Tienor, Barb (Norb) Kratz, Grace Ott, Gordon (Jane) Loose, Glenn Loose and his significant other, Linda Horneck; 18 grandchildren: John, Jeff, Jason, Scott, Cindy, Susan, Laurie, Kathryn, Mike, Jodi, Jennifer, Jessica, James A., Jeana, Penny, Nicole, Haley, McKenzie; 44 great grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; and her sister: Delores Price.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Wilmer; a daughter: Bonnie O’Connell; 3 sons-in-law: James Tiener, Keith O’Connell, James W. Ott; a grandchild: Ashley Jean; a great grandson: Eric; as well as her siblings and their spouses.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with Rev. Thomas Schmitt officiating.  Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Chilton.  A time of visitation will be held at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025 and on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

Lucinda’s family would like to extend a warm ‘Thank You’ to the nurses and staff of Calumet County Homecare and Hospice, as well as her very dear friend, Dorothy, for all of the loving care that was shown to both Lucinda and her family.
