Lyle F Wingers
Chilton WI
Lyle F. Wingers, age 77, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Willowdale Nursing Home in New Holstein. He was born June 27, 1947 in Fond du Lac, son of the late Frank & Elverna (Doern) Wingers.
After graduating from Chilton High School, class of 1965 at which point he proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Chilton area where he worked for Chilton Metal Products and later worked maintenance at the Chilton Area Catholic School and the Calumet County Courthouse.
He was very mechanically minded who enjoyed machining and puttering with anything and everything he could get his hands on. Frequently, he could be found tearing something apart, or building something that was needing repairs.
When he wasn’t puttering, Lyle tended to his small game farm earlier in his life and appreciated time spent outdoors hunting, trapping or camping throughout his life. He and his wife, Rita, held a site in Algoma for five years, but he especially loved time camping at Calumet County Park where he could enjoy the various hiking trails and time near the lake.
As a longtime citizen of Chilton, he took great pride in his community and the organizations around the area. He served as City Alderman and was a longtime member of the Wisconsin Steam & Antique Engine Club. He was also an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where he helped serve mass and volunteered as an usher.
Survivors include his wife: Rita; his daughters: Kathleen Wingers and her special friend, Delbert, Debra Leitner; step-children: David (Lisa) Mueller, Jr., Brian Mueller, Alan (Bobbie Jo) Mueller; grandchildren: Mitchell Nelson, Jacob Leitner, Lauren Leitner; step grandchildren: Jordan Mueller, Brayden Mueller, Nolan Mueller, Logan Mueller, Jared Mueller, Haylee Mueller; and his siblings: Alan Wingers, Janice (Richard) Bangart, Sharon Wingers, Joseph Wingers, Donna Wingers and her special friend, Trinidad de Soto, Ann (Tim) Hagenow. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Marilyn Wingers; and a sister-in-law: Doreen Wingers.
Private family services are being held, and Lyle will be laid to rest in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton.
