Marcus Gary Gerner, age 22, of Chilton, peacefully passed away on April 30, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 14, 2003. He was the son of Mike and Katrina Gerner and the late Christopher Hanna.
Marcus was a true blessing from above. His blue eyes, smile, and giggle were always the most precious things to see and hear. He left a footprint with everyone he encountered. Marcus was a very driven and hardworking boy from a young age. He always left us wondering what new toy he would be purchasing next and bringing into the yard.
Marcus started milking cows at a young age at Norbert and Janet Gebhart’s dairy farm. In high school, he was able to partake in the Career Capstone Course which allowed him to start working at Breezewood Farms. He took on many tasks with the cattle and learned many skilled trades in the shop. After graduation in 2021 from Chilton High School, he received his CDL and began driving semi for Breezewood Farms. Marcus worked long hours from spring to fall as he found great pride shifting gears in the Peterbilt. In winter months he enjoyed plowing snow for the Township of Brothertown and Scott Sohrweide’s snow removal crew.
In his free time Marcus loved the outdoors. At a very young age he always had the need for speed. Dirt bikes, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and his newest purchase of a Can-Am side-by-side. He was the master at popping the longest wheelies on his dirt bikes and loved the satisfaction on doing skillies in the snow on his snowmobiles. Marcus also loved snowboarding down the slopes at many ski resorts. During the warmer months you could always find him on a nearby golf course or fishing at Daun’s pond. Marcus found peace sitting in the woods while bow and gun hunting. He also loved the time spent in his kitchen and by his grill preparing new recipes and grilling his delicious steak and homemade burgers.
Even though Marcus’s time with us wasn’t as long as we all would have liked it to be, our hearts are full of love with the memories we all cherished together.
Marcus is survived by his parents: Mike and Katrina Gerner; a very special girlfriend: Alicia Dehne, whom he cherished dearly; grandparents: Dave and Carol Mallmann, Ron and Betsy Gast, Judy Hanna, and Jim and Rose Gerner; great-grandparents: Norbert and Florence Mallmann; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends along the way.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary Hanna.

A funeral service will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. There will be an opportunity for friends and family to share stories and memories during the service. Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 6:15 pm at the funeral home on the day of service. Marcus will be laid to rest at St. Augustine Cemetery at 11:00 am on Friday, May 8, 2026. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family, on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com
Marcus’s family would like everyone to dress casually for the visitation. Marcus loved being in sweatshirts and flannels.
