Mardella M Wieseckel

Mardella Marie Wieseckel, age 91of Hilbert, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Angel’s Touch in De Pere.  She was born May 7, 1930 in St. John, the daughter of the late Michael & Elizabeth (Bauer) Thiel.  She married Lawrence G. “Larry” Wieseckel on September 25, 1951 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John.

For a time, Mardella worked at Schmidt's Clothing in Chilton, but she devoted much of her time to the life of her family.  She enjoyed her time spent in her garden and volunteered time at St. Vincent de Paul in Hilbert. Mardella was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert where she worked closely with the Christian Women and dedicated countless hours to the parish, working wherever she could to benefit the entire congregation.  Mardella was a well-known baker who made scrumptious wedding cakes for many couples, and she always made sure no family member or friend left her home hungry.  When Mardella wasn’t tending to the needs of those around her, she would be found quietly working on word-searches, knitting, or crocheting.

Mardella is survived by her children: Gary (Lory) Wieseckel and Elizabeth Wieseckel; her grandchildren: Ann Marie (Joe) Cataldo and Pamela (Matt) Dufek; her great-grandchildren: Anthony Cataldo, Heather Cataldo, and Lucy Dufek; a brother, Art (Jane) Thiel; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane VanDaalwyk.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mardella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, a sister, Sister Elizabeth Ann Thiel, 2 brothers and their spouses, 2 sisters and their spouses, 3 brothers-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with Rev. Michael Betley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Saturday, August 14, 2021. The family would like to extend a very special thank-you to all the wonderful caregivers at Unity Hospice, as well as special friend Linda Dufek, who devoted countless hours assisting the family with Mardella’s care.
Betty & Gary,
Our deepest sympathies on the loss of your mom. We loved chatting with her. She and Larry were inspirations to many in the parish as they were great examples of devotion to faith & family.

May your mom rest in peace and may you both know she will be remembered by many for her sweet disposition.

Just want to say how beautiful the online photos you included here are. They represented Mardella’s sweet nature, her love of family, and her close bond to husband, Larry. Brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the memories.

Our sympathy to Mardella's family. Mardella was my confimation sponsor in the latter forties. Enjoyed a lot of good times with her and Larry before they were married. May she rest in peace.

Gary and Lory, So sorry for your loss. I am sure you are comforted by the fact that Mom had a full and long life. I recognized the name in the newspaper.
