Marjorie D Hartmann

Algoma WI

It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie D. Hartmann, age 81, announces her passing on June 19, 2025, after fighting a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Marge was born on July 20, 1943, in Menasha to the late Marcella and George Mielke.

Marge grew up with her nine siblings on the family farm in High Cliff, and after attending El Cajon High School in San Diego, she went on to graduate from cosmetology school before working at the Hilbert Beauty Shop. She studied for her managerial license and later purchased the business that she tirelessly ran until her retirement in 1998. She then took the time to care for her customers at local nursing homes, culminating in 45 years of work as a cosmetologist.

Marge enjoyed going to her cottage on Lake Malone near Gresham; it was always her place of peace and contentment. She loved to travel the world and often talked about her vacations to Ireland, Mexico, the Caribbean, Germany and more. Marge instilled the value of a strong work ethic in her children and the drive to succeed at anything they set their minds to do. Surrounded and supported by family and friends, she independently raised her five children. Marge loved to spend hours cooking and sharing her delicious meals with family, friends and even strangers. Her fierce self-reliance, strength,  and other-centeredness lives on in her children and grandchildren. Marge’s social warmth, wisdom, and stories left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Marge married Dave Hartmann in 1986. Marge is survived by her children: Alisa (Mike) Herrick, Algoma, WI; Ben Brantmeier, Jefferson, WI; Cindy Brantmeier, St. Louis, MO; Dan (Amy) Brantmeier, Stockbridge, WI; and Ed (Noorie) Brantmeier, Harrisonburg, VA.

Marge is survived by her grandchildren: Amanda, Jesse (partner Amanda), Archer, Anja, Gavin, Blake, Alec, Tyler, Bryanna, Noah, Ian, and Estes and great granddaughter, Revy.

Marge is further survived by her siblings: Ruth Ann Gorski,  Mary Lou Nushart, Janice (James) Lamers, Patricia (Allan) Lisowe, and Don (Wendy) Mielke, along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dave, brother Anthony, sisters Georgette Spietz, Christine Eldred, Shirley Majeskie, brothers-in-law Clarence Gorski, Al Eldred, George Majeskie, and her children’s father, James H. Brantmeier.

A visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Sherwood on Saturday, July 19th, from 10:00am to 11:15am, followed by mass at 11:30am and then burial at High Cliff Cemetery. A Celebration of Life at the Brickyard Fishing Club in Stockbridge will take place the same day from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton, is assisting the family with burial at the High Cliff Cemetery where other family members rest in eternal peace near the historic family homestead.

A very special thank you to Alisa for her efforts that allowed Mom to live at home during her aging years. Marge’s family also wishes to acknowledge the healthcare providers at Unity Hospice and Waterfall Health of Algoma for the great care and comfort they gave Mom during her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree, feed wild birds, bake meat loaf or rhubarb tort and share it with someone else, or make a donation to Unity Hospice Care, DePere, WI, in Marge’s memory.
