Marlene M. Schumacher, age 79 of Chilton died peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Century Ridge in Chilton.  She was born January 10, 1941, daughter of the late Clem & Vilma (Ohlrogge) Geiser.

She married Alfred “Al” Schumacher on May 5, 1962 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton.  Together they raised 3 children before the passing of Al in September of 1981 and then carried on her life on her own.

Marlene was a hard working woman her entire life, even starting at a young age on the family farm.  She took great pride and joy in showing her Registered Holsteins at the county, state and national levels.  Her hard work ethic and skills of showing animals was passed down to her children and grandson.

After leaving the farm, Marlene worked at KayTee Products until her retirement.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and recently celebrated 40 years with the VFW Auxiliary in Chilton where she held many officer positions including president.  Marlene could often be found at poppy sales, the Memorial Day Parade and helping with the food stand at the Chilton City Band Concerts.

She loved getting together with family and friends and had played Sheepshead with the same card group for 50 years.  She enjoyed watching Packer games and the many joys of snowmobiling with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children: Karen Gries, Deborah (Brian) Karls & Stephen (Carrie) Schumacher; a sister: Marjorie Leger; a granddaughter: Kylie Schumacher; a grandson: Marc Gries and his special friend, Ashley; great granddaughter: Abigail Gries; step-grandchildren: TJ & Quinn Foress; her very dear friends: Carmen & Cadence Zahringer; and a sister-in-law: MaryAnn Schumacher.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Clem & Vilma Geiser; her husband: Alfred Schumacher; an infant sister: Patsy; and her in-laws: Dr. Anthony Leger, Gertrude (Norbert) Miller, Clarence (Jean) Schumacher, Leo (Betty) Schumacher, Victor Schumacher, Charles Schumacher,  Mary (Bob) Cohen & Giles Cane.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 5:45 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

One of my favorite cousins. Good times working with Marlene on the farms and remember all the laughs we shared.

Ode to Marlene

We were friends right from the start.
Kindred spirits, heart to heart.
St. Gregory's High was where we met.
That was long ago, but yet...
We saw each other through the years,
Shared our laughter and our tears.
I have great memories that won't end.
I will miss you, my dear friend.
