Marvin J Woelfel

Quinney WI

Marvin J. Woelfel, age 87, of Quinney, died on April 13, 2024, with his loving family by his side. He was born March 13, 1937, son of the late John and Marcella Woelfel. He married Judith Schoen on June 25, 1958, and they were together for 45 years before her passing in 2003. He later found love with an amazing companion, Beverly Baltz.

Marvin was the self-proclaimed mayor of Quinney and didn’t miss a Sturgeon Spearing Season for 77 years until the heat of this past winter kept everyone off the lake. He was the east shore handy-man, helping friends and neighbors up and down the lake fix piers and docks, or plowing snow in the winter. Marv was also very proud of his 44 years of service at Chilton Metal products.   As an experienced millwright, he went back to Fox Valley Tech and received his Maintenance Millwright Journeyman degree. He was the world’s best worst joke teller - laughing so hard he could never finish the jokes he started. He was always building or engineering something, except on Thursday nights when he went to watch the Chilton City Band performances. Saturday mornings were for the Jerry Schneider radio program and Sunday mornings were for church at Good Shepherd.

Marvin is survived by his children: Mark (Erin) Woelfel, Lori (Jeff) Wunrow, Larry (Ruth) Woelfel, and Sue (Daryl) Koch; eight grandchildren: Vincent Bierbach, Michael (Stephanie) Wunrow, Jill (Thomas) Walsh, Matthew (Lesley) Wunrow, Tyler (Elizabeth) Woelfel, Emily Woelfel, Kasey (Tyler) Vande Voort, and Kiana (Andy) Swanson; his loving companion: Beverly Baltz; Bev’s children: Richard Baltz, Keith (Barbara) Baltz, Douglas (Joanne) Baltz, Nannette (Francis) Popp, and Denise (Jay) Juckem; siblings: Stephen Woelfel, Roger (Kathy) Woelfel, Mary Breckheimer, Pat (Ken) Scholz, and Daniel (Gail) Woelfel; eight great-grandchildren; Bev’s 13 grandchildren; Bev’s 14 great-grandchildren;  brothers-in-law: Ronnie (Vonnie) Schoen and Terry (Joan) Schoen; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; his parents: John and Marcella; a brother: Michael Woelfel; Judith’s parents: Melvin and Martha Schoen; Beverly’s daughter-in-law: Renee Baltz; and in-laws: Jack (Judy) Schoen, Janet Woelfel, and Donald Breckheimer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and from 10:00 am until 11:45 am on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the funeral home. A vigil prayer service will be held at the funeral home following Thursday’s visitation. A committal service will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Chilton at 3:30 pm on Friday. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com

The family would like to extend appreciation to Moments Hospice, especially nurse Amber, for their care of Marvin.

My heart is so sad to hear of Marv's passing. He was a super neighbor! I will miss seeing the TNT mobile on patrol, and I know my granddaughter will miss the toot of his horn and wave every time he passed her by. Marv was one of our world's Good Guys and he will forever be missed on the beach in Quinney. Until we meet again, Godspeed wonderful man.

I worked with Marv for about 35 years. He always had a smile on his face or a goofy joke to tell. Rest in a well deserved peace my friend!
