Mary Alger, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 11th. She was born June 25th, 1935, in Brothertown, WI to Norbert and Alvera (Nadler) Wagner.
Mary attended elementary school in Jericho and Racine. Her family moved to a farm near Stockbridge during her freshman year. She graduated from Stockbridge High School, Class of 1953.
Mary married John Alger in 1956. They lived at Fairy Springs on Lake Winnebago where they raised their two daughters, Kathy and Holly. In 1989, they built a home in Chilton that Mary designed.
Mary was a wonderful mom and granny to her daughters, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She loved playing cards with her family. Other favorites were Red Hat get-togethers, her flower beds, and feeding the birds. She was very loved and will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her daughters and their families: daughter Kathy (Jack) Doxtator, their three children Chantae (Nathan) Mittelstaedt, their five children Gage, Malia, Sophia, Keaton, and Selah, Shaun Bogan, Brittney (Eric) Wanless, their three children Wyatt, Aubree, and Emree; daughter Holly (David) Boe, their three children Blake (Meghan) Boe, their son, Calvin, Grant Boe (fiancé, Haley Engler) and Shane Boe.
She is also survived by her siblings John (Sandi) Wagner, Mark (Sandy) Wagner, Joan (Andy) Meyer, Lois Wagner-Forstner (Bill); sisters-in-law Mary Kay Wagner and Dot Alger; and brother-in-law Les Winius.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John, and brother, Paul Wagner.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 3:30 pm on Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church (120 Davis St.) in Stockbridge. Friends may call from 1:30 pm until 3:15 pm at the church on the day of service. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family on their website page provided through wietingfuneralhome.com
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Century Ridge in Chilton.

My sympathies to Mary's family. I am a cousin on the Birk/Wagner side of the family. We had so much fun growing up as teenagers in high school. We tried to keep in touch later in life also, by letter. I am Shirley Birk Ziegenbein. God bless you all.

One of my favorite Granny memories is when Shaun and I were at Mud Creek and she walked in. I said “Hi Granny!” And she smiled and said “Hi Amanda.” A bit later I heard her friend ask who I was because I had called her Granny. She explained I was Chantae’s friend. ;) I love that she didn’t bat an eye when I called her Granny. My heart aches that the family had to endure the last months with her memory not being as it once was, it is so hard. My heart aches more that death is part of living. But Jesus conquered death and death doesn’t have the final word. What a beautiful HOPE that is. Love you all and praying for Gods arms to squeeze you tight.
