Monty J Hephner
Sheboygan WI
Monty J. Hephner, age 63, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was born June 23, 1963 in Chilton, son of the late Raymond J. Hephner and Virginia (Lee) Flaherty.
From a very young age, Monty fell in love with driving anything with two wheels even stealing his nieces bicycle to drive wheelies up and down the sidewalk while she was in religion class at church. As time went on, he eventually graduated to motorcycles and loved traveling the country on his bike all the while enjoying the sites and people he met along the way.
Not only did he travel the country on his motorcycle, but his traveling sales of fresh sea food took him all across the United States and Canada. He loved visiting with his many customers, meeting new people and making deals to buy and sell all kinds things. He would often brag about the time that he sold a snowmobile in the middle of summer when nobody was even thinking about snow.
Throughout his whole life, Monty enjoyed watching sports and proudly cheered on his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was constantly a bundle of fun who would never pass up a social gathering and had a wealth of trivial knowledge that came in handy throughout his life and his travels.
Survivors include his siblings: Barbara Heinen & Donna Phalin; his step-siblings: Karen, Mary (Gary), Pam (Buzz), Lisa & Cindy (Greg); his foster mother: Carol Leicht; his foster siblings: John Judine, Steve, Mark & Jenifer; and his very dear friends: Robert Zorn, Todd Klueger, Billy Kruetz & Doug Lulloff. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jim Hephner and Virginia (Gordon) Flaherty; and his siblings: Michael Hephner, Marcel Hephner, Ramona Hephner-Luedeman & Debra Roethler.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the Charlestown Union Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Todd Patterson (another co-worker) had the best reponse to Monty when he said: "That's crazy,.... so when do you need me to be there?". Monty never avoided the "crazY" (he leaned into it). If he was a friend you knew it, and if he was an enemy you knew that too -- I only knew him as a "very good friend" and feel lucky to have shared some time with him on this planet.

I'm truly sorry for the family's loss. I looked at Monty as a father for a while growing up. He took me and my sister to 6 fags and other road trips with my mother Sandy. He was crazy but also very loved. He will be missed.
