Nancy "PeeWee" C Wilson
Stockbridge WI
Nancy C. “PeeWee” Wilson, age 85, of Stockbridge, died on June 19, 2025, at Willowdale Health Services in New Holstein. She was born October 23, 1939, daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (Head) Diedrich. On October 31, 1959, she married Robert Wilson and they had five children.
Nancy was 1 of 8 children, always receiving hand-me-downs. She had two pairs of shoes: one for the garden and one good pair that she wore on Sundays. She received her own pair of new shoes once and quickly earned the nickname “Fancy Pants” because she would stop every few steps and wipe them clean. She said, “You cherish everything you had because it was hard-earned.”
She went to Stockbridge Catholic School and High School, and then headed to Appleton for vocational school, which Robert called “Vogy Tech.” She rented an apartment there with June Burg, Bunny Parsons, Marykay Schumacher, and Carol Heller. One night, Ben and Robert came to visit and the ladies were having popcorn for dinner. The boys were nice enough to take them out to dinner instead.
Nancy worked different jobs throughout her life, as secretary at the vocational school, clerk and stock lady at Hemauers Grocery Store, in Hilbert at the pea factory, and at Bowlby’s Candy in Appleton (which must have been what made her so sweet). She taught religion classes at St. Mary and was a longtime member of the Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and served as their secretary for a number of years. Aside from her responsibilities, Nancy enjoyed sturgeon fishing and was on the bowling team called The Short Circuits. This team consisted of Judy Karls, June Burg, Pee-Wee Wilson, Dorothy Levknecht, Diny Westenberger, Barb Cook, and Pat Millay. She also arranged flowers for weddings and made wedding candles. She reminded her family, “You gotta earn life; it is not given,” and, “Life is what you make it.”
Nancy is survived by her husband, Robert; her children: Gail (Rich) Thiel, Linda (Rick) Meyers, Scott (Theresa) Wilson, Connie (Matthew) Respicio, and Randy (John Raleigh) Wilson; four grandchildren: Sarah Thiel, Ryan Meyers, Dustin Meyers, and Shayna (Mark) Tasch; three great-grandchildren: Trenton Hegewald, Lexi Tasch, and Milly Tasch; siblings: Janet (Gary) Steinmetz, Carol Sneath, and Mary Beth (Daryl) Kingsley; and in-laws: Janet Dehn and Kay Hostettler.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary; and siblings: Betty Diedrich, Donny Diedrich, Pat (Jim) Millay, and Shirley Hostettler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Stockbridge (120 Davis St.), with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the church prior to service. Nancy’s remains will be laid to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stockbridge following the funeral service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Willowdale who gave mom exceptional care and support during her final days. Everyone from the hospice team, pastoral care, and all the many nurses and CNAs truly made a difference. We would also like to thank everyone who visited mom at Willowdale.
