Patricia A Strauss Leary
Chilton, WI

Patricia Ann Strauss Leary, 78, of Chilton, died June 18, 2018, at Libby’s House in Chilton. She was born June 19, 1939, In Milwaukee, daughter of Herman and June (Reilly) Strauss. She married Walter Leary on October 16, 1958, and together they had four children.

Patricia’s family moved from Milwaukee to Clarks Mills and she went on to graduate from Valders High School.  In her younger years, Pat and Wally were owners of Meggars Bar, as well as running St. Anne Corner Bar and the Sandman Motel in Brillion. She went from those endeavors to working at the Chilton Apothecary and Walmart, where she was well-loved by co-workers and customers alike.

As an adult she spent all of her life in customer service work. Pat took great joy in gardening when she and Walter lived at Calumet County park for over 22 years.   She was very proud of the flower beds she took care of there.

Besides her work, Patricia was also a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Her talents as a singer made her a good fit for their choir and also landed her a spot in the Sweet Adelines performing group. When she wasn’t singing she enjoyed reading and camping with her family.  She loved a good campfire and was often up at 4am tending the fire and drinking coffee.  Pat was a lover of all things Christmas and enjoyed decorating for all holidays throughout the year.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Walter; her children: Tim (Ilo) Leary of Daggett, MI, Laurie (RC) Ludke of Chilton, Kathy (Tony) Manka of Murrysville, PA, and Peggy (Kevin) Hoerth of Chilton; grandchildren: Nick Leary, Tim Leary, Amanda Leary, Tony Giebel, Miranda Lorenz, Olivia Ludke, Christian Manka, Ivy Manka, Kate Hemauer, and Allison Hoerth; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Richard Strauss, Gordon (Charlene) Strauss, Randy (Shelly) Strauss, and Gary Strauss; sisters: Sandy (Terry) Kleppe, Carol (Pete) McDonnell, and Mary Litersky; and sisters-in-law: Bonnie Strauss and JJ Strauss.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and June; brothers: Gerald Strauss and John Strauss; brother-in-law: Ronald Zahn; sister-in-law: Genevieve Strauss; and nieces Debbie Zima and Therese Abbott.

A mass of Christian burial is set for 11:30am on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert. Visitation will be held from 8:00am until 11:15am at the church on the day of the service. Burial will take place at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton on the day of service.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Libby’s House and Heartland Hospice for taking care of Patricia. They would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Karla Bartel for spending time with Pat when her family couldn’t always be there.
Pat was a faithful attendant at our Good Shepherd Morning Prayer. We had many a chat afterwards before we each went our way. All the years I knew her, she was always so sweet and caring.

My condolences to the Nick, Tim, Amanda, and the rest of the Leary Family. I've known Pat for close to 40 years, and I've always enjoyed visiting with her. She had a sense of humor like no other. I knew I could count on her for a pick me up. She will be missed. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. Rest in peace Pat.

Dear Tim, Ilo & family:
Please accept my sympathy and thoughts at this time.
Tim, your mom was my back yard porch neighbor. Pat, Roscoe and I had porch chats on her little porch about plants, flowers ,birds and butterflies. ( i think Roscoe knew it all :)) Your mom would reminisce about when Wally and her lived in the park, She would talk about the birds and her flowers. Your mom's flowers brought back the butterflies in the area. I always learned something about flowers!!
Now , Pat is flying with the butterfllies!!
Life has a way of coming full circle and can provide peace when it does. This is what I wish for you.
Respectfully
Jamie Rozman
