Paul J. Ecker, age 96, of Stockbridge, died on August 28, 2026, at Lake House Assisted Living in New Holstein. He was born October 7, 1929, in Stockbridge, son of the late August and Bertha Ecker. He joined the Army in 1951 and proudly served our country during the Korean War where he was trained as a medic.
Paul was a lifelong farmer at the family homestead and he loved living off the land. He was always singing old songs and liked dancing with the ladies. Paul was very social and kind-hearted with a good sense of humor.
Paul is survived by his sister, Elsie Popp, and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by: his parents, August and Bertha; siblings: Jerome Ecker, Arthur Ecker, Fred (Myrna) Ecker, Clara (John) Meuer, Lucy (Richard) Fennig; and a brother-in-law: Herbert Popp.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church (120 Davis St.) in Stockbridge. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 10:45 am at the church on the day of service. Paul will be laid to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Stockbridge.

My deepest sympathies to Paul's family. I remember Paul well from doing communion services at Lakehouse. Paul would always come in with his veterans cap,surely Paul was proud of his service to his country & I thank him for his sacrifice. May Paul now received his eternal reward.

I met Paul at Lakehouse. We enjoyed playing sheepshead, he did remarkably well. He also enjoyed bingo. Paul was so proud of the time he served in the military and wore his Legion cap with pride. This was evident when he sang "God Bless America". He is now free of pain and worries - rest in peace Paul.

I have been visiting Paul once or twice a month for 3 years. He always knew me, he was a good friend of my father and we bought bales of hay from him for my horse many years ago. I think we both enjoyed our visits, and always a salute when I left, i wish I could have visited one more time. God bless him on his journey home. Rest in peace Paul
