Paul J Schierl

Chilton WI

Paul J. Schierl, age 77, of Chilton, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Willowdale Health Services in New Holstein.  He was born on March 28, 1946 in Fond du Lac, son of the lake Leander & Romilda (Ziegelbauer) Schierl.

He married Joann Halbach on June 17, 1967 and the couple recently celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Paul spent many years working at Chilton Plating Co. and for the past 30 years he built furniture under Paul J. Schierl Woodworking, LLC.  He enjoyed working with his hands and built many beautiful pieces of furniture that are sprinkled over the entire state of Wisconsin and beyond.

Traveling throughout the country always brought Paul joy, but he especially appreciated leaving the cold Wisconsin winters by ‘snow birding’ in Texas.  He will fondly be remembered as a jokester and a very gracious host to his many friends making sure that the ice in their drinks never disappeared.  Above all else, Paul loved moments of time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Joann; his children: Daniel (Jen) Schierl, Michael (Talene) Schierl, Dina (Jeff) Radcliffe; his grandchildren: Noah, Gabriella & Greta Schierl and Jake & Julia Radcliffe; his sisters: Kathy Riesterer, Mary (Tom) Fleming and Pat (Steve) Spletter.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Leander & Romilda Schierl; his parents-in-law: Guido & Lourine Halbach; his brothers: Bill & Tom Schierl; his sisters-in-law: Valerie Halbach, Ginny Halbach, Sherry Halbach, and Margaret Schierl; and his brother-in-law: Ralph Riesterer.

Funeral service will be at 6:30 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:15 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Paul’s family would like to offer many thanks for the wonderful care he was given at Froedtert Hospital and the Lutheran Home in Milwaukee as well at the entire staff of both Willowdale Health Services and Calumet County Hospice for all of the loving care that was shown to both him and his family.

Condolences

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies. Unfortunately I never met Paul, but his son Dan shared a few stories and he seemed like a wonderful family man who will be truly missed.

He made all my benches and my partitions I used at Jericho. I think they would still be a Kloten. He was given a great woodworking gift from God.
