Raymond C Rickert, Jr.
Hilbert WI
Raymond C. “Ray” Rickert, Jr. age 84, of Hilbert died on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton. He was born February 22, 1940 in Rosendale, son of the late Raymond Rickert and Delores (Albrecht) Rickert. He married Linda Heimerman on June 15, 1971 in Waukegan, Illinois.
During much of his working career, Ray drove truck all throughout the area until his retirement.
In the 1970’s, Ray could be found at garden tractor pulls on the weekend and made a name for himself in the circuit with his many wins. When his children were young, he did a lot of fishing, especially while the White Bass were running. He also enjoyed time outdoors small game hunting. Through the years, he amassed a large milk bottle collection. As life moved on, Ray always made sure to remain active by going on a 2 mile walk every day and meticulously tending to his yard.
In his free time, he faithfully followed the Wisconsin Badgers, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He could sit for hours watching television shows that showcased old cars and antique tractors, especially on the RFDTV Channel. He looked forward to playing cards with his sister and would never pass up a fresh slice of pie or other dessert she had made.
Ray was a quiet man who would never be found in a large crowd. He loved to putz around the yard and cared well for his car and all of his lawn equipment making sure to keep detailed notes about how everything was operating and the maintenance schedule he kept. He was an extremely hard worker who was continually satisfied with everything in his life and never took a moment for granted.
Survivors include his wife: Linda; his children: Christal Rickert (Paul Haberman), Darin (Rae) Rickert, Jim Taddy, Cheryl Wallen; grandchildren: Michael Rickert, Daniel Rickert, Sophia Rickert, Leo Rickert, Emmie Rickert; his sister: Marilyn Klabunde; a nephew: Tom Klabunde; and his siblings-in-law: Barbara Abbott, Terry (Sue) Heimerman, Ebon Heimerman, Joyce Strupp, Tom (LindaSue) Heimerman, Jim (Doreen) Van Minsel, and Rob Van Minsel. He is further survived by additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers-in-law: Larry Klabunde, Fred Heimerman and Roger Strupp.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 3:15 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Condolences
Ray delivered feed to our farm many times. He was always pleasant to talk to and worked hard to do the job as neatly as possible.

Ray reminded me of my Dad alot by the way he took great pride in his yard looking prestine! I loved hanging out at the house with Darin & friends on the 4th of July every year or after school playing b-ball in the driveway & Linda & Ray were always so welcoming & kind. Except if you moved something in the kitchen. Linda was catch that as soon as she walked in the door ! lol. RIP Ray.

Please accept our sympathies in the loss of Ray. Ray was such a great guy. He would often stop and chat with us when he was going by our house on his walks. He also delivered Meals on Wheels to a family member and we would see him there. We will truly miss our visits. He brightened so many peoples lives. God bless you all till you meet again.

To Linda and family, our prayers are with you. I grew up in your neighborhood with your brother Fred and the rest of the family. We would see Ray out on his daily walk, we would always stop and have a conversation with him. Hold on to all the memories of all the good times and love you shared as a family.
