Raymond M Halbach
Sherwood WI
Raymond M. Halbach, age 75, died on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 at his home in Sherwood with his wife and children by his side. He was born February 23rd, 1950 in Appleton to the late Raymond & Mary (Marx) Halbach. He married Marilyn Fleming at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute on March 23rd, 1974. Ray and Marilyn’s 51 years of marriage were characterized by unconditional love and many blessings, including the birth of three children and seven grandchildren.
As a man of deep faith, Ray prayed continually, even to his last breath. He lived out his faith as a long time member of St. John Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood, where he contributed to the church community in numerous ways. His beautiful voice could be heard from the choir loft, the pews, or singing along with the church bells from his chair at home.
Ray spent most of his life working with his hands: in his job as a mechanic, helping his children with their home improvement projects, and lending a helping hand to those in need. He was a member of the Sherwood Lions Club for 55 years, where he volunteered countless hours building wheelchair ramps for local residents and serving as a transporter for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin. He was a selfless man that consistently put the needs of others above his own.
Ray treasured time spent driving around the United States with Marilyn by his side, stopping at unique destinations and always making time for a buffet or a visit to the casino. He could also be found spending time with friends and loved ones on his deck, tending to his garden, or watching the Food Network or a NASCAR race.
Above all else, Ray adored his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He absolutely loved being a grandfather and watching his children grow as parents. He always looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and made an effort to be present at as many of their extra curricular activities as possible. Whether it was in person or on the phone, his grandchildren always loved talking to him and learning from his wisdom and laughing at his jokes.
Survivors include his wife: Marilyn; his children: Sara (Scott) Carson, Raymond (Amanda) Halbach, Scott (Angela) Halbach; his grandchildren: Lauren Carson, Nathan Carson, Kaeden Halbach, Mason Halbach, Logan Halbach, Rayna Halbach, Evalyn Halbach; his siblings: Mary Ann Olson, Rosemary Propson; and his siblings-in-law: Sandi Gerhard, Bill Fleming, Susie (Wally) Schultz, Bobbie (Steve) Ludes, and Patti Fleming. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond & Mary; his parents-in-law: Robert & Rose Fleming; his siblings: Bill (Joyce) Halbach, Donnie (Ethel) Halbach, Lucille (Adrian) Mader, Jeanette (Leo) Ott, Alphonse (Mert) Halbach, Smokey (Joan) Halbach, Sr. Margaret Mary Halbach, Gerald Halbach, James Halbach; and his siblings-in-law: Norb Propson, Neil Olson, Ron Fleming, Larry Fleming, Gary Fleming and Jim Gerhard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 16, 2025 at St. John Sacred Heart Parish (N369 Military Road) in Sherwood with Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until 11:45 am on Monday, June 16, 2025. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family through their website page at wietingfuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers, memorials given in the name of Raymond M. Halbach are appreciated for the Wisconsin Lions Camp and St. Jude Hospital.
Ray’s family would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the entire staff of Calumet County Home Care and Hospice organization, especially Colleen, Dr. Ben, and Dr. Heraly, for all of the loving care and compassion that was shown to Ray during this past year. Their empathy, knowledge, and guidance were a true blessing to the family during this difficult time.
