Rev. Robert L Novotney
Chilton WI
Rev. Robert L. Novotney, age 95, of Chilton, died on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton. He was born May 14, 1929 in Streator, Illinois, son of the late Andrew & Anna (Sedory) Novotney. He married Marjorie Murray on June 17, 1956 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
At the age of 16, Bob ventured out on his own to attend Concordia High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana making sure to get to class on time by hitch hiking back and forth. He pursued his undergraduate degree at Concordia College in Fort Wayne and then graduated seminary from Concordia in St. Louis, Missouri. Robert served his vicarage at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and his first Divine Call was to Woodworth, North Dakota. He then took a Call to Jackson, Minnesota before serving at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and later Bethesda Home in Watertown, Wisconsin. It was from here that he accepted the Call to serve as Pastor at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton where he remained until his retirement in 1992.
When Bob was not tending to the flock of his congregation, he looked forward to time spent outside. He took time to hunt and to fish; skills and passion he passed on to his son. He had been on the St. Martin’s dartball league for years. He also devoted time to coaching little league baseball, cheering on his children at many swim meets and made sure to hit the slopes in the winter time. He was an avid Packer fan and cherished moments he spent with his wife bowling or riding along on bus trips to the casino. Throughout his life, Robert had a soft spot in his heart for dogs, especially his love for boxers, which he passed on to his daughter and had recently enjoyed her new boxer puppy.
Beside his deep faith and love of Christ, Robert always put his family first and kept them foremost in his life and his prayers.
Survivors include his wife: Marjorie; his children: Aaron Novotney, Angela Novotney; his grandchildren: Michael Novotney, Matthew (Samantha) Novotney, Alexander Novotney; and a great grandchild: Emery Novotney. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings: Evelyn (Joe) Salat, Phyllis (Joe) Kvorka, Richard (Anna) Novotney, Andy Novotney, Marie (Bill) Hinlicky, Viola (John) Kerestes.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024 St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) with Rev. Thomas Schmitt and Rev. Joel Brassfield officiating. A time of visitation will be held at St. Martin Lutheran Church from 10:30 am until 12:45 pm on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Memorials given in the name of Rev. Robert L. Novotney are appreciated for St. Martin Lutheran Church, LCFS, or Lutheran Bible Translators.

Condolences
My sincere condolences to Marjorie, Aaron, and Angie on the passing of Pastor Novotney. He was a great help to me during some tough times and I know with certainty that it is far better to be with our Lord despite the grief we experience now. I was interested to read that Pastor served at Emmaus in Milwaukee where a relative of mine also served (and filled in for Bob several Sundays at St. Martin’s) May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Dear Margie, families of Aaron and Angie. So many bittersweet memories of your kids and mine while they were growing up.
