Richard A Lorenz

Chilton WI

Richard A. "Rick" Lorenz, 62, of Chilton, passed away in his apartment on Saturday night, May 20.

Rick was born July 1, 1960, at Chilton Memorial Hospital, the youngest son of Lester and Estelle Lorenz of N. Town Hall Road. He liked to play baseball, go ice skating on the river in winter, spend time with his family for brat frys, and go swimming at Wolf Lake. Rick was a SuperFan of the Dave Steffen Band, went to many concerts and had many a breakfast at Seven Angels. He also enjoyed going out for dinner with family at the Altona or anywhere shrimp was served.

Rick’s life, like the movie, was Fast & Furious. He attended Holy Trinity School in Jericho for 8 years and then 2 years at Chilton High School before traveling. He spent several years in Texas before coming back to his roots in Wisconsin for the remainder of his life. Locally, he held a variety of jobs at Northland Turkey Farms, Holy Trinity Cemetery, and Buechel Stone Quarry. Rick was also a big dog lover.

On September 5, 2014, Rick married his late-in-life love, Kim Marie Ewing and doted on her until her unfortunate death during COVID on August 4, 2020.

Rick is survived by his 5 brothers – Jerry (Chilton), Ed (Chilton - wife Kathy), Lee (Coeuer d’Alene, Idaho), Clyde (Fairbanks, Alaska), and Dan (Osceola, WI – wife Trudy) and 2 sisters – Ruth Ann (“Mickey” in Burkburnett, Texas), and Lin (married to Jim Stack living in Naperville, Illinois); 14 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, Lester & Estelle Lorenz,  his wife Kim, a brother-in-law Don Ward, and nieces Shelly Lorenz Adair, and Jennifer (Lorenz) Terry.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton.  A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 3:45 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2023.  Everyone is invited to join the family for a meal at the funeral home following the service.

Richard was one of the nicest guys I’ve met. We would often run into each other when one of us was coming and the other was going we would have great conversations. And when trouble came to me at the apartment ( another neighbor) he always said he would be there for me if this particular neighbor bothered me any more. Very, very sad that he is gone. My sympathies to his friends and family and anyone who knew what a good and funny guy he really was.
