Richard “Rick” Schneider, age 75, of Appleton, died on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Heartwood Homes in Appleton.  He was born April 14, 1945 in Marshfield, son of the late Harvey & Catherine (Berg) Schneider.

Rick proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and continued to serve in the US Navy Reserves for a number of years. He attended UW Madison on an ROTC scholarship, and later earned his Master’s Degree from UW Oshkosh School of Business.  He worked in sales and purchasing, eventually owning and operating his own label company, Techni-Flex in Appleton, retiring in April of 2014. He was also member of St. Thomas More Parish in Appleton.

At an early age, Rick found a passion for cooking and baking.  He frequently told stories about finding a stool to stand on in order to make home made delicacies with his mother in the family kitchen.  His culinary appreciation also led him to begin roasting his own coffee beans when his brother, Randy, came for his marriage to Cindy.

As someone who appreciated nature, Rick would spend time birdwatching, fishing nearly every weekend and swinging the clubs around local golf courses.  Rick was someone who took great pride in his many woodworking projects still prized by family members.  He loved animals, especially dogs. He and Cindy enjoyed “Dinner and Darts” on Friday nights with close friends. With a quiet sense of humor, he found it entertaining that people thought he had an uncanny likeness to Tommy Thompson.
Survivors include his wife: Cindy; his children: Lisa (Mike) Meder, David Schneider; 2 grandchildren: Andrew & Avianna Meder; his siblings: Joan Blackburn, Tom (Gail) Schneider, LeAnn (Jerry) Piering, Darla (Jim) Iaquinta, Randy (Maria) Schneider; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Norb and Barb Kratz; sister-in-law: Susan (Jason) Rieder; and a brother-in-law: Scott (Tonya) Kratz.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and 2 brothers-in-law: Kelly (Mark) Robbins and Dick Blackburn.

Due to COVID19, and the health and well being for the public, private family services are being held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in the name of Richard “Rick” Schneider to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
