Rita M Forstner
Chilton, WI

A dove took flight March 7, 2021.  Rita Madeline (Lagers) Forstner was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on February 5, 1936 to George and Madeline (DeCoster) Lagers.  She married Jerome Leo Forstner on October 6, 1956   Rita and Jerome, moved from Green Bay to the Chilton area in 1965.  Immediately she made lifelong friendships with many Chilton residents.  Rita loved to laugh and throw fondue, Tupperware, Bridge, and Domino parties.  Any reason to be with friends, Rita was all in.  She loved to garden.  She loved to float in the pond outside her back door; she loved to soak up the summer sun.  But, above all that, she loved her children:  Jenny, Judy, Pete and Mike.

Rita was an only child.  While growing up, she longed for a big, boisterous Catholic family.  She got one.  Rita gave her all for her children and grandchildren.  She ensured that all school event chauffeuring duties were accomplished and was always able to pick up the pieces when things fell apart, no matter what stage of life we all were in.  Her biggest fear was that her children wouldn’t love each other when they got older.  All four of us were there at her bedside.  We love you too Mom!

Rita was preceded in death by her father, George Lagers, her mother, Madeline Lagers, her grandson, Nicholas Prouty, her husband, Jerome Forstner, and other relatives that Rita cherished.

Rita is survived by her children Jennifer (Danny) Prouty, Judith Turner, Peter Forstner, and Michael Forstner.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mathias Prouty, Alicia Forstner, Cassandra Forstner and Jacob Turner.

A funeral service is set for 3:00pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the funeral home on the day of service. A committal service will take place at the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Charlestown immediately after the funeral service. Those who wish may see the flowers given to the family by clicking HERE

Fly away, fly away home, Momma.

The family would like to thank Ascension Hospice and Willowpark Place for their tender care of our mother during the last stage of her life on earth.
Such a beautiful person! Rita was a super Campfire Girls leader and put up with a lot of 8th grade girl shenanigans! May you Rest In Peace. My sympathy to the Forstner family.

May she rest in peace.

Barbara Bittner (Classmate of Jenny) - Mar. 15, 2021

I met Mrs. Forstner only once in the early 1980s when I came to visit. I remember Rita was a generous and kind lady with a full schedule of things to do. Thoughts and prayers for her and the family.

Tony Cekola (Visitor) - Mar. 10, 2021

I will miss our talks. It was an honor to care for Rita. May God grant all those that loved her peace and blessings.

Tabatha (Caregiver ) - Mar. 10, 2021

My condolences to the entire Forstner family. I have so many fond and funny memories of camping and hanging out at your house and all the fun times we had and will hold those close to my heart. Rita was such a great lifelong friend to my mom, Audrey, and I am so grateful for this. Hugs to you all!
