Robert A. “Bob” Cullen, Sr., age 79, of Chilton, died on November 11, 2025. He was born March 11, 1946, son of the late James and Lucille (Groeschl) Cullen.
Bob grew up helping his grandma on the Groeschl Homestead Farm. He worked at several businesses throughout Calumet County, but especially enjoyed owning and running Hadi Club, Uptown Cafe, and Ice Cream Parlor. He enjoyed playing dice at Ethels with his buddies or hanging out at Curve Inn. He looked forward to cooking at the annual trips to deer camp. He was very involved with Kiwanis for many years helping with Special Day for Special People and especially the fish boils he brought to the Calumet County area. He always loved a good ground round sandwich and rye whiskey. He looked forward to each year celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
Bob is survived by his children: Robert T. (Lisa) Cullen, Candice (Tom) Giesen, and Jesse Cullen (Significant other Lisa); grandchildren: Alyssa (Scott) Thiel, Nicole (Cam Horner) Cullen, Carsin Cullen, Joel Cullen (Significant other Kayla Brunette), Jesse (Denise) Cullen; great-grandchildren: Dekker, Zoe, Bristol, Hazel, Mason, Wyatt, Hayden; siblings: Thomas (Linda) Cullen, Sarah (Joe Skarda) Cullen-Skarda, Judy (Scott) VanDenBroek, and James (Judy) Cullen and several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Vita; pet: Dixie; parents: James and Lucille; daughter-in-law: Debra Cullen; brother: Ken (Sue) Cullen; and nephews: Ryan Roberts and Cullen VanDenBroek.
Thank you to his sister, Sarah, for helping him with his appointments and running errands for him the last several years.
The family extends a special thank you to the EMTs today and through the years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 1:45 pm at the funeral home on the day of service. Bob will be laid to rest at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Charlestown.

My deepest condolences to the family. Bob, Alan, and I were Green Giant cutter-drivers the summer right after high school, worked extremely long hours, but had a blast, and got to know each other well. Have always considered Bob a good friend.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. I would have attended the funeral to pay my respects,but didn't find out until tonight (Sunday) He will be missed by many. He truly was a nice guy. And funny too. RIP Bob.

My deepest sympathy to all of Bob's family our prayers are with you. Bob and I had a lot of fun working together at several bars and restaurants over the years, and in the process he and Vita became very close friends. Bob was a man with a big heart and community minded. We may have shared a few drinks and caused some mischief over the years, it wasn't all our fault it might have been that wee bit of that Irish blood in our veins. Rest in peace my friend.
