Robert C Suttner
Kiel WI
Robert C. Suttner, age 80, of Kiel died on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at St. Luke Hospital in Milwaukee surrounded by his family. He was born October 3, 1942 in Fond du Lac, son of the late Cyril & Thelma (Grittner) Suttner. On July 14, 1962, Robert married Carol Grenzer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton; she preceded him in death July 25, 1999.
Before retiring in 2007, Robert worked at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for 48 years as a gauge repairman. During those 48 years, he proudly supported his local union and served as the Union Steward. Throughout his time at Tecumseh, he acquired many friendships.
He continually supported Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel to the best of his ability in order that the outreach the church offered continued.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed woodworking in many and various ways including home remodeling, chair construction and making hand-made frames, plant stands, benches, cabinets, and anything else someone may have requested. With a mechanics heart, he looked forward to working on anything that had wheels or an engine, worked several years assisting part-time as a mechanic, and made sure that his children knew their way around a vehicle at an early age. When he was outdoors, he appreciated time spent fishing on local rivers and Lake Michigan where the salmon and smelt were plentiful. In the summer, you could always find him outside on his lawnmower making sure the lawn was cut perfectly, enjoying a campfire or spending time riding his motorcycle. Later in life, Robert appreciated the quietude of putting puzzles together.
Known quite well as a prankster, Robert’s personality was appreciated by all those who knew and loved him. Amid the pranks and jokes, he had a big heart and would do anything for anyone and he cherished time and visits with his children and their families.
Survivors include his children: Kevin (Kelly) Suttner, Lisa (Scott) Womaski, Cheryl (Todd) Neff, Charlene (Charles) Grunewald, Aaron (Rachel) Suttner; 15 grandchildren: Corey (Samantha) Suttner, Nicole (Avery) Anhalt, Michael (Kristin) Womaski, Rosie, Ruth (fiancé, Demario), Carol, Giles & Gwendolyn Neff, Sherry (Jim) Borden, Scott Grunewald, Jonathan (Rose) Grunewald, Heather & Charles, Jr. Grunewald, Keatyn & Mavryk Suttner; 14 great grandchildren with another arriving soon: Tyson, Lucas, Elizabeth, Gracelynn, Jayden, Jelani, Jai’da, Aumari, Demario, Jr., Wyatt, Trenton, Allison, Madison, and Aiden; his brother: Joe (Melanie) Suttner; and his in-laws: Barb (Lon) Schroeder, Joan (Mike) Slominski, Marlene Grenzer & Kurt Myers. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Carol; a grandchild: Christopher Suttner; an infant brother: John Leo Suttner; and his siblings-in-law: Kenny (Bette) Grenzer, Marguerite Myers, Mary (Joe) Schomisch & Charles Grenzer.
Funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 5:45 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
