Robert J Schuh
Chilton, WI

Robert Joseph Schuh, 93, of Chilton, WI, died on May 1, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born October 16, 1924, son of Nick and Anna (Denk) Schuh. On September 15, 1951, he married Angeline Shimek and together they had three sons.

Robert was a highly decorated World War II Air Force veteran, flying a mind-numbing 35 missions over hostile German skies as a waist-tail gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress. He was a VFW and 8th Air Force member. He taught freshman English for 30 years at Chilton High School. He is remembered fondly by many of his former students. He was an avid sports enthusiast and “stat man” at football, basketball, and track events. Besides umpiring and coaching various sports, he loved to “putz around” as he watched his sons do all the heavy lifting.

Robert is survived by his sons Gregory and Mark (Rosa) Schuh; his grandchildren: Olivia, AJ, and Dominic; and his brother, Allen (Pat) Schuh.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Angeline; his son, Gerald; his brothers: Leonard and Roger; and his sisters: Lorraine Massman, Rosie Cain, Marilyn Kelp, Germaine Neunfeldt, and Gail Armbruster.

A funeral service is set for 11:30am on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E Main St) in Chilton. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St) in Chilton from 9:30am until 11:00am on the day of the service.
My sympathy to the Schuh family. Bob was my teacher and fellow colleague when I taught at the old high school. He also placed his trust in me as his investment/insurance advisor. He was one of the finest and kindest persons I ever knew. May God bless him and welcome him to his Divine Kingdom.

Howard Schneider (Insurance Agent/friend/student) - May 8, 2018

Deepest condolences

Steven Shimek (Nephew ) - May 5, 2018

My sympathy to the Schuh family. Had Bob as a student, and then later was a colleague of his at the old high school. Always enjoyed talking "sports" with Bob. I think that he still holds the record for most free throws made in the age 70+ category at the Chilton Summerfest competition. Ed Rollmann

Mr. Schuh - you are the reason I love to read, the reason my children call me a "walking dictionary." You had a real thirst for knowledge, evident in your daily visits to the library. Thank you for the inspiration - you were a great teacher and will be missed by many.

Sue (Wolfert) Nagel ((Former CHS Student)) - May 4, 2018

Thank you Bob for the memories from high school, you were a great teacher and a kind person to talk with.

Jim Keuler (Chilton High Student) - May 3, 2018
