Rose M. Brunner, age 74, of Chilton, died on July 13, 2026, at Ascension Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born July 16, 1951, daughter of the late Anton and Ermina Brunner. She was born with cerebral palsy but her mind was always sharp and it never stopped her from living a full life.
Rose worked for New Hope Center most of her life and they helped find her a place to live on her own. She proudly lived independently from that point on until she needed the care of a nursing home. She enjoyed getting around town on her own whether it was peddling her tricycle or riding her motorized 4-wheel cart. Rose adored cats and took pleasure in latch hooking, crosswords, playing cards, or doing many, many puzzles. She liked the social aspects of the nursing home and loved the activities there, especially playing cards and Sheepshead. Rose was a dedicated member of the Optimist Club, the Chilton Jaycees, an adorer at the Good Shepherd Adoration Chapel, and very involved in the Special Olympics. She even found time to travel all over the country on bus trips with some of her friends.
Rose is survived by her siblings: Gertrude “Gertie” Bonlander, Carolyn (Dennis) Cada, Rick Brunner, Col, USAF, Ret. (Evelyn Upchurch), and Linda (Jeff) Lynch; and nieces and nephews: Amy Bonlander, Ryan Compton, Derek Cada, Caitlyn Yohn, Jesse Lynch.
Rose was preceded in death by: parents, Anton and Ermina; a brother: Donald Brunner; and a brother-in-law: Bob Bonlander.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the church on the day of service. A burial service will take place at 2:00 pm at St. Martin Cemetery in Charlestown. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.
Thank you to everyone in the community, the van drivers, and the bus drivers, that helped her get around.

Sweet Rosie, What a blessing to get to know you during our Mom Marilyns stay at Homestead. My daughter Kristan taught her the I Love You sign in sign language .... So at all visits even after Mom had passed that was a must when we saw each other. Saying a prayer for you and your family Rosie ????????

My sympathy to Rose's family. Working with her at New Hope Center we became friends. We also were members of Chilton Joycees. to Rose's loved ones you my prayers are with you. Rose was such a delight to work with when she worked calculating all the time sheets and did excellent work. I had the pleasure of picking her up and taking her home when she still resided in the country. she also resided at Stanton Place where Mark's mom was for a while. I am so sorry for your loss, I always enjoyed my visits with Rose whenever I visited the Homestead and brought her Holy Communion. She always wanted a brief explanation of the Sunday Mass readings and it was a joy sharing this with her. May Rose rest in peace; she was an amazing woman of faith.

Our condolences to Rose's family on her passing. Rose was always a joy to be around, she always had a positive attitude. I remember Rose from grade school and enjoyed the fun times we had when our Kiwanis Club hosted Special Day for Special people for many years. Rose was a special person in so many way and an inspiration to anyone who knew her. May God comfort your family during this difficult time.
