Rosemary Daun
Chilton WI
Rosemary (Beyer) Daun, age 89, of Chilton, died on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Copper Stone Assisted Living in Neenah, WI. She was born April 10, 1935 on the family farm near Pipe, WI, daughter of the late Arthur & Henrietta (Jacky) Beyer.
In High School, Rosemary met the love of her life, Kenneth Daun. They were married on February 19, 1954 at Ebenezer Evangelical & Reformed Church in Chilton. Together they had four children before he preceded Rosemary in death on May 27, 1961. Rosemary devoted every fiber of her life to the raising of her children and cherished each and every moment.
Early in her working life, Rosemary was employed with Schabach Photography Studio in Chilton where she used acrylic paints to colorize the black and white portraits taken by the photographer. Much of her professional career was working as the office clerk/receptionist for Dr. James Knauf in Chilton before working a few years with Chilton Metal Products and Aluminum Specialty (Foley) until her retirement.
Rosemary was an excellent seamstress who fashioned clothing for her husband and her children and did alterations and sewing for those throughout the community. She tended to a large vegetable garden which produced a bountiful harvest in the fall with fresh produce to fill the dinner table as well as can and freeze for the winter months ahead. She was never averse to having her children help tend to the garden, since they would also be benefactors of the harvest. She was known to attend rummage sales and auctions around the area to find unique and useful treasures that she and her family could utilize in their daily lives. She had a passion for taking old scratched and marred furniture and giving it new life, refinishing it to a beautiful luster, many pieces found their way into the homes of her children.
When her children were raised, and Rosemary reached retirement she began to find time for herself where she could explore new hobbies and interests, and give back to her community. She volunteered countless hours sorting through treasures for The Shepherd’s Attic, and as a social individual, Rosemary was an integral part of the formation of the Chilton Red Hat Society. She kept active and strong attending exercise classes, and taking on a paper route in her neighborhood.
Rosemary also wanted to keep her mind sharp and took great interest in learning about places around the world and took in many events at Ledge View Nature Center where she could learn and explore the unique world around her. The community where she lived was her passion later in her life. She enjoyed telling the history of this area to people she encountered. She collected many historical artifacts which were shared with friends, family and the attendees of the Calumet County Fair. Each year as the fair ended, she was already planning what she would showcase the next year.
Survivors include her children: Sheri Daun-Bedford, Kim (Bill) Daun-Campbell, Chad (Vicki) Daun, Keith (Sue) Daun; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and her siblings-in-law: Jane (Gautier) Daun, Jerry (Ursula) Daun, Allie Daun, Richard Daun, Betty (Palmer) Beyer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Kenneth; a son-in-law: Mark Bedford; her siblings and their spouses: Joyce (Frank) Ulrichs, Dolores (Louis) Halfmann, Maurice Beyer, Elda Mae (Patrick) Schmitz; a brother-in-law: David Daun; and nephews: Leo & Terry Schmitz.
The family would like to thank the staff at Copper Stone Assisted Living and Moments Hospice for the kind and gentle care Rosemary was given during her stay.
The family will be holding a private service for Rosemary. I remember Rosemary when she was worked for Dr Knauf, he was our family doctor, I was very young back then. She remembered my parents coming in to see the Doctor and coming out crying, she told me years ago they found out my mom had cancer. and Rosemary felt so sad for my dad and all us little kids. She told me that story when we she started working at Foley Co. with me in 1981. She was so much fun to work with, she had a dry sense of humor, and was so kind and caring with everyone, she even took care of my son for part of the summer after she retired. We stayed in touch through the years, calling ,texting and going out to dinner for birthdays,I have her last message to me from May 29th on my phone yet. I'm going to miss her, she asked myself and another friend of ours to come to see her at the assisted living facility but sadly we never got there. Hope her and her dear husband Ken had a joyfull reunion when she got to heaven, she talked about him often. miss and love Ya Bud.

Sympathies to your family. Rosemary and I were classmates at CHS (Class of 53) and we had many good times working on class reunions. My late husband, Ted, was also a classmate and a close friend of your dad, Ken.
