Rosemary R. “Rosie” Karls, age 95, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at her home in Chilton.  She was born July 15, 1927 in Kloten, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John & Rose (Wettstein) Propson.  

Rosie married Cyril Karls on August 2, 1949 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton and the couple farmed together after moving to Quinney in 1955 until the mid 1990's when they sold off their herd.  Around 2012, Rosie moved from the family farm and settled in the City of Chilton.  Early in her life, she helped on the family farm along with babysitting.  For several months she hopped a bus to Milwaukee to work for two elderly women and their brother. With the news of her father's death, she immediately moved back home in order to help with the family farm until she was able to transition to serving as a waitress in the restaurant industry where she met Cyril.  She taught herself to play the accordion and initially played at a couple weddings, then later when living on the farm, her and a neighbor would bring out the accordion and play for family and friends. Rosie enjoyed going dancing and traveling with Cyril, playing Sheepshead, crocheting and knitting. She also worked hard as a farmer's wife along with gardening, baking, and canning.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Elizabeth Parish in Kloten. 

Survivors include her children: Jeanette Adkins, Barbara (Mike) Tasch, Nancy (Dave) Bolz, Darlene Gerner; 8 grandchildren: Amy (Brian) Fucile, Sheila Adkins, Daniel (Emily) Adkins, Chad Tasch, Tanya (Michael) LaMontagne, Kevin Tasch, Shane (Lindsey) Gerner, & Lance Gerner; 15 great grandchildren; 3 siblings: Dolores Sell, Alice Sabel, Dorothy Gerner, and sister-in-law: Viola Propson. 
 
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings and siblings-in-law:  Leander (Viola) Propson, Gregor (Rose) Propson, Erwin (Eleanor) Propson, Arthur (Doris) Propson, John (Lydia) Propson, Isabella (Leo) Miller, Joseph (Bernice) Propson, Andrew (Ginny) Propson, Theodore Propson, Anthony Sabel, Robert Gerner, Evangeline (Lloyd) Draheim.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with Rev. Jon Thorson officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Kloten.  Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until 11:15 am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
