Ruth I Broehm

Ruth Irene Broehm, age 95, of Chilton, formerly of Hilbert passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Lakehouse Assisted Living in New Holstein.

Ruth was born on July 14, 1930, daughter of the late Albert & Martha (Eichorst) Wolf of Brillion, Wisconsin.  She attended school at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brillion, being confirmed April 2, 1944.

She and Eugene “Gene” Broehm were married on September 17, 1948 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brillion, Wisconsin by Rev. Victor Siegler.  Gene preceded her in death on August 24, 2012 following almost 64 years of marriage.  

Before marriage, she was employed at Scoldylocks in Hilbert.  Following their marriage, she assisted her husband at Cold Springs Cheese Factory in Hilbert, of which Gene was co-owner with Armin Hernke.  

Following the birth of their children, she treasured time spent with their family.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and crafting many items of which family members, relatives, and friends were recipients of.  She also enjoyed music, photography, reading, and volunteering.  

Gene and Ruth treasured their time spent together with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, and friends.  They enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, camping, making many new friends, the time spent at the lake, fishing, listening to God’s beautiful music and watching nature along with the beautiful sunsets.

Survived by their children: Sharen, Gary (Darlene), David (Christine), Lynette (Bruce) and Cherlyn (Theron); grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; siblings-in-law: Darlene (Paul), Curly (Donna), Grace, Sharon, Virginia; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends who assisted her these past years. 

Preceding her in death was her loving husband: Eugene “Gene”; son-in-law: Steve Schmitting; her parents: Albert & Martha Wolf; parents-in-law: Arvin & Lydia Broehm; and siblings-in-law: Lavern (Harold), Ruben, Milford, Leo, Ronald, Jerome (Joan), Carl, James and Germaine (Oscar).

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:30 am on Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton.  Burial will be in the Brillion Community Cemetery in Brillion.  A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 11:15 am on Monday, October 13, 2025.  At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a livestream or archived recording of the service, view a memorial video or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

The family would also like to thank Lakehouse of New Holstein and Bristol Hospice, the many relatives, neighbors, and friends who assisted Mom these past years since Dad’s passing, for the visits, assistance, and for making Mom as comfortable as possible.  For the prayers and concerns through this difficult time, we are truly grateful.  The family would also like to thank the Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton for assisting the family during this difficult time.

My sympathy to the Broehm children on their loss of Ruth. I worked for Gene and Ruth when the Broehm Children were young.Sharen,Gary and David They were very nice kids and well behaved.God Bless you all and sending love to all of you.
