Scott J. Vogel, 63, of Kiel, went home to his Lord on September 27, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on October 15, 1961 to Charles and Alyce (Krueger) Vogel of St. Nazianz and was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church. After moving to Kiel, he and his family became members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed and later married.
Scott graduated from Kiel High School in 1980 and, in 1985, earned a bachelor's degree in Business Economics from UW-Green Bay.
As a youngster, he worked cleaning cars for the family business, Vogel Chev-Olds. After college, he joined the sales team and later became the dealer. While in the role of dealer, Vogel Chev-Olds received the Oldsmobile Elite Award for exceptional performance and customer satisfaction. After 30+ years with the dealership, Scott changed direction, looking to spend more time with family, and began work at the Kiel Public Library as an assistant to the director. He often brought bags full of books home to Donnell to preview, in case she might like using them in her reading classroom at Zielanis Elementary. Scott deeply enjoyed his time working at the dealership and at the library. He had a passion for helping others…whether it be choosing the right automobile or the next good book.
Scott met Donnell on a blind date and soon discovered she was the love of his life. On July 6, 1996, they married. Scott was an amazing father to their two sons, Samuel and David. He loved spending time with his family, taking family trips, biking, and hiking. He loved reading - especially mysteries. He enjoyed working around the house and was an excellent gardener, taking great pleasure in maintaining his well-kept yard and planning new plantings. He had a fun sense of humor that will be sorely missed.
Faith played a fundamental role in Scott’s life. He helped as a Lutheran Pioneer leader for a time, served on the Trinity Church Council as treasurer, sat on the WLCFS (Wisconsin Lutheran Child and Family Services)-Luther Haven board of directors, and most recently, served with Donnell as church librarian. During Scott’s illness, he lived his faith, knowing that regardless of the outcome, things would be okay. He knew his Savior and that God was in control, and was an incredible role model for his family.
Scott further served his community as a board member of the Kiel Chamber of Commerce; he also belonged to the Kiel Kiwanis Club. Scott was a Kiel Public Library board member prior to being an employee there. For many years, Scott served as the president of the Kiel Educational Endowment Fund (KEEF).
Scott is survived by his wife, Donnell; his sons: Samuel Vogel and David Vogel; his brother: Mike (Mary) Vogel; his sisters: Jennifer (Joel) Lulloff and Rebecca (Randy) Meyer; his aunts: Shirley Vogel Kimberlain and Nancy Krueger Spoentgen; his mother-in-law: Marilyn Scott; his brothers-in-law: Phillip (Cathy) Scott and Alan (Russell) Scott; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alyce Vogel; his father-in-law, Donald Scott; aunts and uncles; and his nephew, Jason Lulloff.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church (387 Cemetery Rd.) in Kiel. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on the day of the service. Scott will be laid to rest at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Louis Corners following the funeral service. Additional time for fellowship and reminiscing will follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Scott’s name has been established to benefit both Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Kiel Public Library.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Naumann and Pastor Horn for their prayers and comfort; family, friends, and loved ones for their constant love and support; and to the staff of both the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their care and expertise.

I recall driving to and from UWGB many times with Scott listening to Bruce Springsteen the entire way. I remember we’d always leave late on Sunday nights to head back up to UWGB. I’m so very sorry for the loss of your husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many. Scott will be deeply missed and may God give you all comfort and strength in the days ahead.

Very sorry to hear about Scott's passing. Just a really good guy gone way, way too soon. I remember Scott as being an upbeat person with a perpetual smile on his face. What a beautiful tribute to Scott. Though we didn't know him for very long, it was apparent quickly what a wonderful man Scott was. A peaceful countenance, a quick and bright smile and always a kind word. His deep faith was a beautiful testimony. (And so was his amazing garden!) I had a privilege of Scott being my boss for many many years. I considered him my boss and friend. I had a chance to say goodbye at Sharon Richardson hospice care. I stopped in there to see Scott and also my sister-in-law Linda. Who passed away two days later after Scott Rest in peace both of you, your family awaits for both of you. God bless both of you.

Scott was my previous boss at Vogel Chevrolet for many years. We had a wonderful relationship. I did get the chance to see him at Sharon Richardson.’s he was admitted the same day. My wonderful sister-in-law was and died two days after Scott did I will miss both of them dearly. Now you can rest with your mother and dad and hopefully wait for a long long time for your wife.

We are all so sorry and saddened by the news of Scott's passing. We only just learned about his illness a few weeks ago and didn't get to sending him love and we are regretful of that. He was an awesome man, and we looked forward to seeing him at the library counter. Our hearts are with Donelle and the boys.
