Sharon A Nett

Hilbert WI

In the evening of May 7th, Sharon passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her immediate family after she put up a brave battle against colon cancer.  Sharon spent her final days enjoying the beautiful yard her and her husband, Phil, spent almost 40 years creating together.

Sharon was the daughter of Mary Lou Thiel and the late Ronald Thiel.  She was born in Chilton, WI on September 17th of 1965.  Sharon leaves behind siblings Romy (Joan) Thiel, LuAnn (Keith) Turner, Dennis (Amy) Thiel, Doug (Janice) Thiel, Grace (Steve) Honnef, Roger (Gail) Thiel and her brother Dale who passed as an infant.   As Sharon’s journey drew to a close, thoughts of Dale lingered, offering her comfort in the belief that they would be reunited after sixty years.

Sharon married Phillip Nett at the St John Catholic Church on August 18, 1984. They were graduates of Hilbert High School and high school sweethearts.  They never went to bed angry, or so they said, and held hands every night as they went to sleep.  Phil is the son of Millie Nett and the late Jake Nett.  His siblings are Linda (Dan) Schroeder, Vicki (Chad) Daun, Marea (Brandon) Podhola, Mike (Erin) Nett.

Sharon and Phil created a beautiful family.  They were blessed with three healthy children and six grandchildren:  Jackie (Mike) Ruhland and their children Izzy (5) and Leona (2).  Riley (Jamie) Nett and their children Olivia (4) and Sophia (1).  Connor (Caitlynne) Nett and their children Jude (3) and Amilia “Millie” (1).  Sharon was a fantastic Grandma, filled with energy and love.  When she was diagnosed with cancer her biggest fear was that her grandkids would not remember her if she passed, but the many hours we spent together the last few months and the stories we will continue to tell will not let her legacy go. She was a special woman who left her mark on everyone she encountered.

Sharon worked in Human Resources for 20 years at Fisher Hamilton in Two Rivers until the facility closed in 2012.  We now understand losing her role at Hamilton was a blessing as she then began to work with Phil doing Landscaping for their former business; Nett Lawn Mowing and Landscaping LLC in Hilbert, WI.  God had a plan to call Sharon home early and this was his way of making sure Phil and Sharon had as much time as they could together.

Sharon will be remembered as a spiritual woman who never once got angry with God that he chose this path for her.  Instead, she praised him for taking her and not her children or grandchildren.  Her faith in God is something we all can learn from.

We are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, hospital staff, caregivers, and even those unknown to us.  Your overwhelming show of compassion during this trying period has illuminated a profound truth: in life's most formidable trials, the strength of community becomes our guiding light.  Your presence, whether near or far, has demonstrated that with a supportive network, we can navigate even the most daunting of circumstances.  Your love has been our blessing, and your kindness has brought us hope. Thank you, from the depths of our hearts and we hope you felt Sharon’s appreciation by her welcoming smile for anyone she came across during her final months.  Any visitor, nurse, or doctor she always managed to find energy to give a smile and leave people with a positive impression.

Sharon was fulfilled. In her final hours, she proclaimed, “I lived a good life,” to Millie, her mother-in-law. May we all live life to the fullest so these can be our final words, as well.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider making a donation to the St Jude’s Children’s research hospital, ensuring that her legacy becomes a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer. Donate Here

Sharon will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 18. Visitation will be at the Wieting Family Funeral home in Chilton, WI on Friday, May 17, from 4 PM to 7 PM.  On Saturday, May 18, there will be a second visitation at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church (181 Main St. Potter, WI, 54160).  Visitation on Saturday will be from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM and the service will begin at 11 AM.  Following the service there will be a burial at St John’s Catholic Church Cemetery.  After, we would love to have you join us at the Neighborhood Pub and Grill (N5091 Co Hwy BB, Chilton, WI 53014) for lunch, drinks, and to share memories of Sharon. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family on their website page provided through

So sorry to learn about your loss. Her character and kindness was reflected in the kids and the quality of the people she was and Phil is.

I will always cherish the memories made with the Nett family during my childhood. Sharon was the craziest boat driver in the world and would always make sure we hit the biggest waves while tubing. She was funny, beautiful, had the kindest heart and a smile that would light up the whole room. My heart is with Phil, Jackie, Riley and Conner. I love you guys so much!

Our deepest sympathy to your family big brother. Sharon, thank you. Thank you for being a amazing wife to Phill, for blessing our families with 3 of the most outstanding children a family could ask for. Thank you for alway greeting us with a huge smile and such positivity. But most of all thank you for showing us your love. You were the most amazing person in the world. This unfortunate whole that is left behind will always be felt, but with nothing but the most warm hearted memories. You will be forever remembered and deeply love by so very many. One more thing Sharon, your snicker doodle salad and your scotch-aroos were off the chart good. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we love you.

Mike, Erin and Family (Sharon's brother and sister in law) 2024-05-08 17:05:01

Sharon and I were friends since kindergarten. That friendship was reignited 4 years ago, because of a common vision of what we both wanted for our family, friends, and let's face it, for the world. We would get together with Ann Gehl and before we knew it the day was done. I'd always say, "Well, we solved all the world's problems for today". Sharon would say, "I wish". Knowing her, she would've if she could've! She always worried about everyone, but herself. Sleep in peace my friend until we meet again, as I know we will. Until then, I'll be watching for those signs from you. If you believe, you'll receive. Gone, but NEVER forgotten. Jane

It's going to be hard to let go of my "other sister", but I'm so happy that you are at peace, Sharon. You fought with a smile on your face like no other. Memories from when we were very young until now will never be forgotten, and you have strengthened my faith in God even more so. Thank you!! Love you, and we will "bike each other back home", again and again some day. Ann

My deepest condolences, Nett family. Sharon was like a second mom to Angela and I growing up, and I’ll always remember the fun she ensured that we had in that house. May you take comfort in knowing she is with God and at peace. Love you all.

My thoughts and prayers to the family for courage and strength during this difficult time. Sharon and I had many giggles as grade school girls on the bus rides during those years. She is a cherished friend and God surely gained a very special angel and I know she will be guarding her family and everyone she loved from the heaven above. Love to Phil and the family.

Sending my condolences to the family. I’m so grateful that I have gotten to know Sharon since Jackie joined our family in 2013. Both Sharon and Phil are a true inspiration. They have raised remarkable children and her legacy will live on xoxo I also wanted to share one of the last texts she sent me: Trust. Everything we need to know is in the Bible. It is God's word. His love. His wisdom. How to not be afraid. God is amazing. Take time each day with God. Peace!
