Susan K Verrier

Chilton WI

Susan K. Verrier, age 69, of Chilton, died on December 30, 2024, at Auberge at Oak Village Assisted Living in Menomonee Falls. She was born October 11, 1955, daughter of the late Eugene and Janice Redig. She married Royce Verrier on February 6, 1993, and together they adopted their daughter, Hannah, from China.

Susan was a natural caretaker her entire life, being the oldest in her family, helping watch her younger brothers and sister, and babysitting to earn extra money. Eventually, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from UW-Oshkosh, working primarily in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This work led her into hospice care where she helped others in their final days and worked with their surviving family members through their grief.

Away from work Susan liked knitting, cross stitching, gardening, watching Marquette basketball games, and going shopping with her child, Hannah, and sister, Candie. She also loved going to all of Hannah’s band concerts, volleyball and softball games. She loved spending time with her dog, Biscuit. She had a passion for Amish furniture and goods and she would often go to Amish quilt auctions with Royce and Hannah.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Hannah Verrier (girlfriend, Erin Craig); siblings: Candis (Mike) Daniels, Mark (Kathy) Redig, Michael Redig, and Daniel (Carrie) Redig; nieces and nephews: Joe Daniels, Vincent Daniels, Mitch (Becky) Redig, Nate (Kristin) Redig, and Alexis (Tim) Cleaver; great-nieces and great-nephews: Lilia Redig, Luka Redig, Eli Redig, Liam Redig, Harper Redig, and Addison Redig; her dear friend from college: Toni Kenyon; and dear friend: Erica Erickson.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Verrier; and her parents: Eugene and Janice Redig.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2024, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, with Pastor Kathleen Gloff officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home on the day of service. At the time of the service and following, there will be a link available above for those wishing to watch a live stream or archived recording of the service, watch a memorial video, or see pictures of the flowers and gifts given to the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Erica Erickson for her support and assistance to Susan and Hannah.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear this! We worked together for several years at Unity. She always had a smile and a listening ear. She talked endlessly with pride of Hannah! Rest in peace, Sweet Sue!

Sue always had the best smile! She taught me that color pop was important and she did that well. She would always have a flashy necklace on or scarf to off set her black and white outfit. I will pull out and wear my blue scarf in honor of Sue. My sympathies to all of you ??

Amy Cisar (Social worker friend through Unity) 2025-01-03 16:23:48

My sympathy to the Redig family. Hearing of Sue passing, brings back memories of when we were kids growing up in the old neighborhood.
