Timothy J. “Tim” Peer, age 44, of the Town of Rantoul, died on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his home in Rantoul with his wife Kelly by his side.  He was born October 1, 1977 in Green Bay, son of Barbara (Lardinois) Peer and the late Donald Peer.

Early in his working career, Tim worked as a cabinet maker and earned his degree in wood working.  Tim always had a love for anything that had a motor, which made him a natural in his career as a parts pro working for several of the national retail part stores in the area; at the time of his cancer diagnosis he was working at O’Reilly Auto as a commercial manager. He treasured the relationships he built with his customers, some who became lifelong friends. He was proud when he earned his CDL and loved driving the big trucks, which matched well with his ring tone from Smokey and the Bandit.

He spent many hours and days at the racetracks where he was introduced to his wife Kelly by his mother and a mutual friend.  Following his marriage, Tim followed his passion of vehicles and lived his life finding unique parts for vehicles for anyone who needed them.  Taking everyone’s passions into consideration, he thrived on finding the necessary pieces to vehicles for anyone who came to him for help. His love of the Chevy Laguna stemmed from his father’s love of cars, and the day he was able to drive his restored 1975 Laguna will not be forgotten. His greatest passion, however, as anyone who knew him, were his girls.

Tim will be missed by his wife: Kelly; his children: Allison, Cassie & Josie; his mother: Barbara; his sister: Stacy (Paul) Cannariato; his father-in-law: Eugene Mertz; and his siblings-in-law: Dot Williams, Dale (Brenda) Mertz, Cheryl Koehler, Joanne (Jerry) Kolbe, Linda (John) Schwobe, and Gary (Terri) Mertz.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Donald; an infant son: Cody Allen Peer; his siblings: Steve Peer & Tammy Peer-Williams; his mother-in-law: Dorothy Mertz; and his siblings-in-law: Beth Mertz & Tom Koehler.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Rantoul (N6070 W. River Road Hilbert).  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, January 21, 2022, and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 am until 11:15 am. Tim’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, especially Dr. John Charlson, Dr. Katie Recka, and Dr. Candice Johnstone and their teams for their compassionate care. Also, to the team at Heartland Hospice, including Dr. James Richter and Jessi Wirkus, APNP, and all the RNs who attended to Tim. A very special thank you Cindy Hakkert for walking with us this last year.

In the early morning before Tim died, Tim, Kelly and the girls gathered together and pulled scripture. Tim's verse was "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through the rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you." Isaiah 43:2

I remember Skateboarding & biking around the neighborhood with Tim. I also worked with him at the cabinet shop. It’s probably been 30 years but I can still remember hearing his laugh.
My prayers are with your family.

I lived down the block from Tim growing up. We were friends along with several others in our neighborhood. He was always kind and funny. We would cruise around a lot in a car I know he was proud of (I don’t know cars) it was long and green. And it had a great sound system. We would jam out to rap, country and everything in between. I’m happy to read that his passion for cars led him to fulfilling career and his wife!
To his family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Looks like you shared a great love for each other and God. What a life to be proud of. Tim was a great guy, great friend. May he rest in peace.
