Virginia E Leffler

Janesville WI

Virginia Ellen “Butch” Leffler, age 83, of Janesville, died on Monday December 29, 2025 at Aspire Assisted Living in Kimberly. She was born September 6, 1942 in Janesville, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Leonard & Alice (Kluge) Wagner. On May 18, 1963, she married Verlin R. Leffler at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Janesville, the start of a wonderful journey together that lasted just shy of 47 years. Verlin preceded her in death on April 22, 2010.

Throughout her life, Virginia's passions were her Faith, her family, local history, and family genealogy.  With the support and love of her husband, she researched, compiled, and published two books on Janesville titled "Tis Fine Land That" and "Reflections from a Warming House Window".  She also researched and assembled complete family histories on both her and her husband's families, lovingly making and gifting them to all of the relatives.

What she will most be remembered for, and what will be missed, is her generous and selfless nature.  Virginia always put others first. She lovingly took care of her husband when his health declined early in their marriage and daily cared for her parents as they aged.  She continually looked for ways to help others, up to and including the day she died. Virginia also had a legendary sweet tooth, and we are sure she's sampling the peanut brittle and sweets in heaven as we speak.  She was firm in her Salvation, thru Faith, in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mom you were dearly loved and respected by your children and grandchildren. We miss you already!

Survivors include her children: Daniel (Amy) Leffler, Phyllis (Scot) Rajsich; her grandchildren: Michael & Emilie Rajsich, Alena (Brandon) Deich, Erin (Jordan) Brennan & Danielle (Logan) Strysick; great grandchildren: Calihan, Bowen & Cobe Deich, Riviera, Lettie & Walker Brennan and Sienna Strysick; and her siblings: Nita Cronin, Pat Byrne, and Howard Wagner. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings Richard Wagner, Helen Cox, Ginger Kuschel and Sandy Stapleton.

Private family services are being held and Virginia will be laid to rest at Milton Gardens in Janesville.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. I was just thinking of her the other day and was wondering if she was living in the same place. What a surprise to see her obit. We always had a nice visit when I did her hair and I remember stopping at her house when Sandy and I walked home from Franklin H.S. She will be missed by many but she is home now with her honey.

I spent a lot of time in the Leffler home in my youth. Verlin and Virginia were always so welcoming. And if you were there at a mealtime, Virginia always made sure you sat down for a meal with them. You just had to be careful not to violate the space of Virginia’s cat “Dummy” or Virginia would chastise you! ???? Even after Dan had moved out, I enjoyed stopping in and visiting with Verlin and Virginia when I was in Janesville – “Pull ya up a chair!” Verlin would always say when I came in the door. I still laugh at Verlin telling how, when he went to the Wagner home to propose marriage, Virginia slammed the door in his face before he could get a word out! Such a wonderful couple. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Dan and Phyllis and families.
