William C Sabel
Chilton, WI

William C. “Bill” Sabel, age 70, of Chilton, died on December 30, 2019, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwautosa. He was born October 13, 1949, son of the late Clemens and Sally Sabel. On September 5, 1970, he married Betty Reinl and together they had three children.

Bill was a proud Private First Class with the Triple Deuce (B Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 25th Division) who served in combat for our country in Vietnam. Some of the medals he earned included the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor. Serving his country was one of his proudest achievements.

Bill worked most of his life as a carpenter and he was always the guy to call whenever something needed to be done. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his retirement on his land. He liked to hunt, fish, garden, and feed the birds. He enjoyed military movies and westerns, as well as watching the Brewers, Bucks, Badgers, and Packers.

Bill is survived by his wife, Betty; his children: Scott (Brenda) Sabel, Steve (Lisa) Sabel, and Michael Sabel; grandchildren: Alexa Sabel, Madison Sabel, BriAnn Sabel, and Brevin Sabel; a brother: Ronald (Joan) Sabel; Betty’s parents: Ronald and Dolores Reinl; sisters-in-law: Pat (Dave) Wettstein, Judy (Rich) Lodes, Joanne (Greg) Murphy, Kathy (Stan) Schmitz, and Mary (Richard) Dreifuerst; brothers-in-law: Ron (Kim) Reinl, Jim (Sue) Reinl, and Joe (Kathi) Reinl; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens and Sally; a sister: Carol Sabel; and a niece: Katie Wettstein.

A funeral service is planned for 3:00pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 1:00pm until 2:45pm at the funeral home on the day of the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of William Sabel.
Live in De Pere and saw his obituary, very sad and condolences to your family. My wife is Kathleen.

We did go to a reunion like in 2007 at Johnsburg and maybe he was there.

I also served in VN between Danang and the DMZ in '68 and '69. I am 72 and my brother Allen is 85.

Take care, Pete

Peter Robert Sabel (Cousin?) - Jan. 4, 2020

Bill was very much liked and was fun to be around in school. Our ways parted, but we took similar paths, both serving with the Army in Vietnam. May he find peace in the arms of our Lord.

Sending our sympathies to Betty and family during this difficult time! Always remember Bill with that fun kinda sassy sense of humor during our high school days! Thank you for your years of service and R.I.P. Bill
