Wilmer M Geiser
Chilton WI
Uncle Willie, aged 79, joined his parents, Arnold and Madeline (Mueller) Geiser in his heavenly home on 4/30/2025. He was home under the attentive and entertaining care of the Calumet County Hospice Team.
Uncle Willie joined his older sister, Barbara Ann (go ahead…sing the song…you know you want to!) on April 26, 1946, at 0209, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He attended grade school at St. Martin’s in Charlestown and graduated high school in 1964 from St. Gregory’s in St. Nazianz. His great-nephews loved hearing his school stories, especially the one where Uncle Willie ALMOST got blamed for playing with a toy car during school when it wasn’t actually him! Uncle Willie was terrified when his teacher came walking down his aisle, but was relieved when she didn’t stop at his desk!
Uncle Willie attended the UW Center in Manitowoc, and graduated from UW Madison in 1968, with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education and Extension. He was proud to be a life-long Badger, and looked forward to receiving his On Wisconsin magazine. After his college graduation, he received his draft notice and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. His family was always proud of his military service. He served as a dental assistant, and was a master barterer. He could barter for anything.
Upon his return from military service, Uncle Willie farmed the family farm. Eventually he formed a partnership with his brother, Uncle Charlie, and farmed Evergreen Family Farm, in the big metropolis of Hayton. His nephew, Mark, is now part of that as well. At one point in his life, Uncle Willie also worked for the Chilton Canning Company.
In all of his free time…not that any farmer has much free time, Uncle Willie served as the Town Chairman for the Town of Charlestown and has held that post since 1985. No one ever seemed to want to run against him. Why you ask? That is one of life’s great mysteries. Prior to being Town Chairman, Uncle Willie served as the Town of Charlestown Supervisor from 1979 to 1985.
Uncle Willie was also a professional spectator and audience member for all of his great-nieces and great-nephews sporting events, dance recitals, concerts, plays, and anything else we could drag him to. He was also enjoyed playing dart ball for over 60 years.
Uncle Willie is a former member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church and currently a member of Good Shepherd Parish in Chilton, where he proudly served as an usher and mass server for funerals until his health forced him to “retire”. Uncle Willie had a strong faith and missed going to mass as his health declined. He greatly appreciated the visits from Father Jon and the hospice chaplain, Barb. Uncle Willie was a lifelong member of Catholic Financial Life.
Farming and agriculture were Uncle Willie’s passions. He served on the Education Farm Board, participated in the Farm Training Program for Veterans, and served on the Planning, Zoning, and Farm Preservation Committee. During his leadership time for the Town of Charlestown, he was an integral part in implementing a recycling program for Calumet County. Uncle Willie had served on the Calumet County Recycling Committee for many years.
Oh how Uncle Willie loved his Green Bay Packers and his Westerns and he would watch them both with the volume up so high that you could not hear yourself think! Yet, he had “no hearing” issues at all! OK, Uncle Willie! He also was an avid reader of any newspaper or publication regarding farming, agriculture or the Green Bay Packers. While he was reading, was either the best or worst time to try to talk to him. He either agreed with you to quiet you or he completely ignored you altogether.
We always joked that Uncle Willie, being a “politician” would always tell you what you wanted to hear. That became challenging as his health declined. However, before that, he was excellent at “putting out fires” wherever they started. His constituents knew they could call on him. They trusted him. Uncle Willie was so serious about ALWAYS answering the telephone, that he even answered the telemarketer calls. Although, without caller ID, he never knew who was calling. He found great personal satisfaction and entertainment when the telemarketer was the one hanging up on him!
To know Uncle Willie was to love him. He was a kind person and the epitome of a good man. Those left to miss him on this earth are his: older sister, Barbara Ann Breunig, younger sister Kathryn Leona (Rick) Krueger, younger brother, Charles Frederick Geiser, nephew, Russell Gabelt (special friend, Kristy), niece Stacy (Nathan) Miller, nephew Mark (Amber) Krueger, and niece Meghann (Dave) Schmitt. He was also loved and adored by his great nieces and great nephews…who never missed an opportunity to pick on him! They include: Chance, Jake (special friend, Lauren), Zack (special friend, Hannah), and Mark Miller; Emma, Brandy, Henry, and Godson Oliver Krueger. He is further survived by cousins, friends, and this Chilton and Calumet County community and beyond.
In addition to his parents, Uncle Willie has many people awaiting his heavenly arrival. They include: nephew Clark Gabelt, brothers-in-law Gary Gabelt and Merten Breunig, all of his aunts and uncles and some of his cousins.
Uncle Willie’s family extended beyond his relatives. He loved his cardiac rehab angels Ursula and Jennifer as they always kept a good eye on him and worked tirelessly to keep him out of trouble! He really enjoyed the people he exercised with at cardiac rehab. The only person who loved Rachel Schroeder, more than Uncle Willie, was his niece, Stacy. (Thank you, Rachel, for being MY angel). Dr. Beine and Uncle Willie’s VA provider, Tao Lee, took excellent care of him. Jan Schroeder was family, friend, housekeeper, caregiver and anything else we needed her to be…all rolled into one! They say it takes a village to raise a child. As you can see, it took a village to take care of Uncle Willie!
Uncle Willie’s family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Michelle, Holly, Barb, and Megan of the Calumet County Home Health and Hospice Program. Thank you for putting up with us and our humor! After all, we couldn’t let Uncle Willie have ALL the fun! We looked forward to your visits and thank you for taking care of us as well!
A mass of Christian burial will take place at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Father Jon Thorsen officiating, with full Military Honors to follow. A time of visitation will take place at Wieting Funeral Home from 3p.m. to 7p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, and again at the church Saturday morning from 10:00a.m., until 10:45. Uncle Willie will be buried at St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Charlestown.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to any of the following: Calumet County Home Health Care and Hospice Agency; Good Shepherd Parish Catholic Church or Chilton Area Catholic School; St. Martin Heritage Park.

Susan and I feel like we knew Uncle Willie more than just through celebrations we share with the Miller 6 Pack. Uncle Willie's importance and love love that we heard about story after story are a reminder of how strong his legacy will be through such a loving family.
